Would someone mind telling me what the merits of FoE: Heroes are? I quit reading it in frustration long ago and I can no longer remember a single positive thing about the fic.

They also like pink eyes, which I felt was clever at certain points but still altogether very shoddy on every front. Characters, plot, world, whatever.
If someone could describe what was good about pink eyes (other than "cute"), I'd like that, too.

I am asking what is good about these stories. What is it that the people that like it see that I am not seeing.

I know what you're talking about.  My point was maybe people just like the stories instead of just going, "Thanks, Obama".

Personally I kind of liked pink eyes cause it was a massive difference from how 95% of FoE fanfics go, "Whine whoa is me for I am so emo".  I'm getting massively bored of FoE fanfics in that they a lot of them are gorefests meant to satisfy a reader's urge for blood.  There's nothing really wrong with grimdark, but a lot of FoE fanfics are the equivalent of Cupcakes.  Violence and gore for the sake of violence and gore with no underlying moral to the story or emotional attachment to the characters and that a lot of stories are becoming popular for the environment rather than the actual characters and what have you.  I could not get past chapter ten of murky number seven in that I was reading it for the environment.

What a massive amount of FoE fanfics are missing is actually interesting characters with a reason for their actions.  I still read heroes in that I want to read more about Hired and Serenity's mother-daughter relationship.  I don't read it cause, "WOOHOO violence! Gore! Blood! More blood!" rather I read it cause of Hired trying to protect her adopted daughter.

I kind of liked pink eyes in that puppysmiles just wanted to see her mom again and didn't understand why ponies were hurting each other cause she was so little.

If your characters don't have a personality in a story and a reason for them fighting then yeah there's a reason why your fanfic isn't popular, cause when you break it down monomyth stories aren't really about saving the wastelands or what have you.  Instead monomyth stories are about the characters and their interactions with the rest of the world.  If the stories have characters with less personality than bella from twilight then maybe the reason why people don't like it isn't cause of what's in it, but rather it's just not interesting.

To me the reason why I've all but dropped the FoE universe, except for PH and a couple others is that the vast majority of fanfics just do not have interesting characters.  To use a analogy the problem with so many FoE fanfics is the same problems with the movie Man Of Steel; the problem with both is destruction for the sake of destruction with little to no character development.

Another problem with a lot of FoE fanfics is that the characters simply give exposition with more exposition with more exposition and never go, "I FEEL this" or "I FEEL as though" and that the characters never actually express any emotion.  A lot of fanfics have characters with about as much emotions as microsoft sam.

Which is the exact opposite of what pink eyes does.  The reason why people like pink eyes is that puppysmiles is pretty much all emotion and that even when there's no emotions being expressly implied you can still tell that puppysmiles has emotions.

If a fanfic's characters aren't showing any emotion and the viewership starts to fall like a rock then yeah you have your reason as to why.


Tl:dr; it's not the amount violence or gore of a story that makes a story; rather it's the characters and if the characters have less personality than Bella from Twilight then yeah people aren't going to like the story.

No they don't.
Heroes a shit is a common heard phrase when its brought up.
One or two people like it but most hate it. But then, the only liked fic over there is MN7

Heroes was alright in the beginning. Then it took an odd turn in the plot at some point I can't remember, took forever in between updates, and dragged on to the point that I don't even remember what's going on anymore.

FoE Heroes?

New Vegas expy has been nuked, what's her name now has two cyber legs and the cyber eye, her adopted daughter has a cutie mark about how awesome she is with cybernetics, everybody hates the Mr. House expy since he's a ghoul and thus "Wanted the radiation" and I think they have to break into the casino run by the mare who took over the old Pinkie Pie one.

There's also the mounting war between it's version of the NCR and the minotaurs and the group who I guess is now lead by her brother since I'm pretty certain she killed the last leader.

Oh yeah, she banged and still is banging an alicorn who's still recovering her memory from before she was turned since the current point in the story takes place weeks after Day of Sunshine and Rainbows.


Edit: Oh yeah, there's also the mandatory pre-war conspires that was so god damn convoluted, complex, and important it's still causing problems today. Something about turning ponies into megaspells and there's some weird maybe zebra maybe just regular dark magic insanity going on.

Nothing can top PH's conspiracy sorry to say, but for me the difference between the two is that I care about PHs more than I do Heroes.

The one in Heroes just feels tacked on and our protagonist just stumbles upon it from time to time. Could just be me but I think she didn't give a damn at first but it kept popping up to the point she couldn't help but catch interest.

Well of course there's that, but I mean one sentence dragonslayer said was "for discord" which means the minotaurs aren't the only ones that worship discord.

I had forgotten about that but Dragonslayer could have also said that to throw more suspension on the minotaurs. He seems to be the asshole who'd do his best to shuffle blame to whoever he could.

Hell if I know anymore. That's like the one thing we don't know yet, who Dragonslayer is working for. All that can be said about him is that he's an asshole.

Eh, I'm just IT tech. And my opinion..well 'go, people!' I support peoples, who protest, but (legally) can't participate. we have law, which says, that if you work for government - you can't participate in any kind of protests or demonstration. But you don't have to support current government to work for it.

And thanks, for support. Mostly here are peaceful protests, but there are some provocateurs, who trying to force fighting/conflict.
