Friggin' finally. =P Actually, I'm pretty sure this already happened with tumor detection in X-rays (or whatever they use to detect tumors and suchlike) - computers got better at it than doctors. Maybe not to the point that it's inexplicable how they know better, though. Cool either way.

@cb5: (ramble) There is. None that I can fix much of a shit about however. I focus on what little I can impact. And I can say while I don't overly care state-wise, I care country wise. And Swe severely sucks ass when it comes to rape. I've ranted several good examples, so no need to be repetitive.

And he has a partial point yes. But if I recall, they take a quite excessive "all or nothing" standpoint.
And no, the story would not be gibberish, people just just have to make an actual effort. Similar to not making generic porn: Gotta spend that five seconds actually bothering to do shit, rather than just sloppily slap a piece of cardboard in front of them.

Secondly, the tropes aren't equally "harmful". The female stereotype is a generally negative one, and the male is a positive one. A stereotype yes. But not a as "harmful" one.
And yes, a game can have zero tropes and still be bad. But a majority of the ones that are bad DO have a ton of them. Personally at least can't recall a game people went all "Oh yeah, remember that game with a super bland and awful story? Man, that was an amazing game!" I will admit that ex: Psychonauts has tropes in it. But it's vastly outnumbered by the sheer amount of innovative and unique shit in it. Compared to something that ONLY has the norm? The later is not impressive. It's just a run of the mill whatever most the time. And most games that are good in of themselves, despite a crappy story. They're "recall that game? - Yeah, that had great graphics." I've at least never to what I recall, had a good game with flat story brought up or remembered for it's content. Just a mechanic or scene. And just like I said with porn: No, we can't get rid of it, but we can improve it so it doesn't suck. Cant say the number of times I've had people wail on me that porn "needs" to be bad, because it's the only way it could possibly work.

Not too sure such rating would work, considering many people are dumb and either sell to or buy stuff to kids anyhow. Might help a bit though.

@Last: (ramble) That is true. Not everyone can do that.
And that is partially correct. Very many just create what they've been told to do, and what they've been taught to like. After those two restrictions many oblige to, then they start drawing variations of that based of their actual preference. Heck, many don't even notice they're obediently following the system. Many thing they actually solely like the norm, mainly since they're taught to never question it, nor try new things. (doesn't apply to all ofc, but a surprising amount of those I've met)

Math help time! How would I find the rate of change of a hypotenuse based on the rate of changes and (increasing) values of the legs using calculus/derivatives? I have the equation for when you're trying to find the rate of change for a leg and there's a fixed hypotenuse, while only one leg is changing. I'm probably missing the obvious...

Going back to video games, not necessarily about sexism in video games; but video games in general.

With the PS4's being released and how the hype train was wrong and that it was a crap day for the PS4 are video games in general in decline?  By that I mean every time the new consoles or video games are sold there's always a massive hype about, "We sold a million consoles" and such, but the ps3 sold a million consoles as well on release as well, the ps2 sold half a million.

What I mean is looking at sales figures for consoles since 2000 the trend seems to be that on release there's a spike in sales, then a gradual slump as the consoles get older, then a spike in sales when a new console comes out, then a gradual slump and it continuing with a long term trend of it going in the long run downwards.

It's looking like a extremely slow version of the 1983 video game crash in that there seem to tons of factors going into why consoles aren't selling that well, like how both instances are seeing to be partly caused by computers being able to play video games(in 1983 is was partly caused the introduction of pc gaming; whereas this seems to be that consoles can't seem to keep up with pc gaming and you still can't play the xboxone in 1080p and the ps4's framerate is utter crap).

It wasn't a failure of a launch. Just underwhelming. The problem with the ps4 is the fps is fine some moments and other times it drops down to 15 fps.
