They're linking the clothes and attractiveness-- the attractiveness they picked are the famous Double-D's. "Buy this and it'll help you look like this!" Almost every ad out there has some form of it; trucks, cars, perfumes, deodorant, bodywashes, make-up, pants, shirts, hats, skateboards, the list goes on and on. It's about people looking at it and going "I want to look like that" or "I want to be able to do that" even if it's entirely impractical, and the message always conveys a sense of "Buy this and you can!" to the viewer. It's all about the money, and people willing to pay to be something they aren't tend to spend a lot of it.

Don't overly see the relevance to this and them changing all the manequins to have DD instead of average sized breasts to put more pressure on people to become "normal".

@cb5: (20 years) hum... personally would have to say it'd be neat to see if we'd actually manage to get rid of bland, generic norms till then. Personally just wish we could fix the porn one sooner...

It comes down to everybody wants more money and enforcing "higher-standard" beauty ideals is one way to get it by stimulating the sale of beauty products while also being douchenozzles.

They're not just for America anymore! :D I mean, yeah, okay, I could see that being annoying as fuck, but if you're getting PTSD from a professional pianist practicing, you need to invest in a pair of noise cancelling headphones or something. And jail time? Seriously? Either there's a lot missing in this story, or this is absurd.
