That reminds me of a short story I read in the "Warriors" anthology (which was pretty good, actually - I usually don't like anthologies, possibly because the changing up of the style trips me up, and possibly because a lot of writers take "short story in an anthology" to mean "oh, I'll write a short spin-off from my main series with little to no explanation of anything for people who haven't read me yet!" Only then I remembered that I would totally do that, too. So. =P) But yeah, it was less technologically advanced - sort of a semi-post-apocalyptic Russia that had gone back to a mix of serfdom and roaming horse nomads, with no guns surviving as far as I could tell (though apparently some really old people remembered things like tractors). It was good, anyway, and had good atmosphere - lots of cultures from the region sort of coming together.

Regarding CMYK files (which looks like a Russian word itself, haha), apparently they are an industry standard, so it matters for professionals and the like I expect. There are plugins for GIMP that allow you to use this format, apparently, but it's limited compared to Photoshop. Link.

I for one am interested in how AI will change our understandings of consciousness - artificial, animal, and our own. Problematically, it's hard to know when you've created AI, I suppose - if it doesn't seem indistinguishable from a human, then most people won't accept it as conscious, but that itself brings up issues because artificial consciousness could well surpass human consciousness' limits and, if built efficiently, very likely would seem nothing like a human. Lots of the tests we use are based on AI doing human stuff, but on reflection it seems silly to expect something so different from us to behave like us. It gets very philosophical, seems like.

The gimp plugin only lets you export to cmyk. If you need to import from cmyk or work in cmyk you're fucked.

Okay, more topics to float around. Space exploration - given the chance, if NASA announced a permanent mission to mars with new experimental terraforming equipment to create a habitable world out there, would you go? Or on some other long-term, possibly permanent-term extraterrestrial voyage? Relevant.

For my part, I'm not sure I would. I like trees, y'know? =P And as fascinating as it would be to see new swathes of the universe, I'm not sure that boldly going is really something I'd want to commit to for the rest of my life. I'd love to see it happen in my lifetime, though.

So I recently watched a let's play of scp containment breach and I kind of got what scp is now. It would make for one awesome video game if a actual company made a remake of it. Right now the video game is meh, but that's understandable cause it's a indie game.
