The only version of H2G2 I've not been through is the television series, if you count listening to the audiobooks as going through the books. Both my parents and I believe that Douglas Adams had a very big impact on my life, including being a primary contributor to my very-not-from-Appalacian-Georgia accent.Katarn wrote:

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
Well, since nobody's talking, I'm going to start (briefly) reviewing every album in my music library at random! :D Let's spin this shit.
This randomizer is suspect; it keeps hitting the same albums over and over again. Oh well, that's it for now.
@Valik
That is impressive, and Blossomforth is a pretty pony.
@Hitchhiker's
Only ever read the books and seen the film. I hear that some of the other versions are very good, though.
- Spoiler:
- -Lost Highway's soundtrack. It's... not bad! Has some pretty okay rock songs in there, some nice stuff from the movie. Wish it had the crazy jazz that the main character plays, though.
-Opeth's "My Arms Your Hearse." As a concept album, I'm not a fan, but it has 4 classic songs in it - "April Ethereal," "When," "Demon of the Fall," and a cover of Iron Maiden's "Remember Tomorrow."
-Meshuggah's "Nothing." Meh. Catch Thirty-Three was better, and let's face it, all Meshuggah sounds pretty much the same these days.
-Earth "The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull." Haven't really had much of a chance to experience this album the way it was intended. I like the sadder sounding songs on it, though. Very relaxing music.
-Devin Townsend "Ziltoid the Omniscient." 27/10 would listen again. Seriously, though, it's hilarious, fun to listen to, about coffee, and some pretty nice metal.
-The Prodigy "Invaders Must Die." Fun electronic shenanigans. Seems like songs off it were really prevalent a few years ago.
-Girl With The Dragon Tattoo soundtrack. It's good. Better in the movie, though. Very well put together, but better in the movie.
-Fleetwood Mac "Rumours." Got some great songs on it. Not 100% my kind of music, but definitely stuff I can appreciate.
-Kyuss "Welcome to Sky Valley." Yeah, it's good. Can't go wrong with "Demon Cleaner." Bit less heavy and hard and speedy than some of their other stuff, though.
-Psyclon Nine "We the Fallen." Wow, I forgot about this. Weird sounding hyperfast industrial rock. Like... Ministry plus modern electronic music. It's kinda amateur, but okay.
-Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon." /shrug Like with Earth, never got enough of a chance to listen to it properly. Sounds nice, though.
-NIN "The Fragile." Classic album. Tons of great songs here, under-appreciated in its time, masterfully put together. One or two less good songs.
-Dark Tranquillity "Construct." The first Dark Tranquillity album I can say, without reservations, I liked. It's still not as good as good Insomnium, but it's sooo much better than their other recent stuff.
-ISHITROBOTS "Doom." Uh, it's good for a laugh and has some actually kinda fun moments. Brutal grindcore plus jazz. I dunno.
-Skeletonwitch "Beyond the Permafrost." Generic modern extreme metal, but it's pretty decent. Drums don't sound so great, but the guitars are fun.
-Porcupine Tree "Deadwing." The start of Porcupine Tree's glory years, if you ask me. Really, really strong album. Very depressing band/album, though.
-Ghost "Opus Eponymous." Their debut album kicked ass, was funny, and sounded really original and good. Big fan.
-Bob Dylan "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan." I don't think it's possible not to like this album. Seriously. Too many classic songs.
-NIN "The Slip." It was free, and its ending was pretty cool and new sounding. So... it has those things going for it.
-Skogen "Svitjod." Low fidelity atmospheric and pretty black metal. It's not bad, but it's not as good as the guys who are REALLY GOOD at this.
-Samael "Above." Meh. Kinda fun, but kinda nu metal. Production is kinda shite.
-In Flames "The Jester Race." See, I'm supposed to like this album, but it really just makes me wonder how melodeath became popular in the first place. The songwriting is just so mediocre.
-NIN "Ghosts I-IV." Well, I liked them.
-Skeletonwitch "Forever Abomination." They fixed the drums. Otherwise, it sounds exactly the same.
-Baroness "Red Album." It's good, but it's not as good as Blue Album. It's just not as... instantly attention grabbing. Still, good album. Glad they refined their formula since this point.
-Anaal Nathrakh "Vanitas." This was a pretty damn good album from them. Very industrial, very grindcore. Nothing all that innovative from them, but nobody sounds like them anyway, so I don't mind. The song "You Can't Save Me, So Stop Fucking Trying" is pretty emblematic of their current style - completely indecipherable screaming, less indecipherable refrain, good riffs, ultraspeed.
-Tool "Aenima." It's okay. Got some good songs on it, but somewhere between the metal level of their early stuff and the weird esoteric rock of their later stuff.
-Opeth "Deliverance." The heavy album to "Damnation"'s folk and quiet album. It's pretty okay. Nothing to write home about.
-Fovea Hex "Huge." I will be honest, I have no idea where one album from Fovea Hex ends and another begins. They all sound really similar, and really good. Very ambient and kinda menacing sometimes. Very well put together.
-Agalloch "Ashes Against the Grain." Their most accessible album. Also one of their best. It's a lot deeper than it sounds on the surface, especially if you have the 20-minute extra ending track on your copy. Beautiful songs on this one.
-Anaal Nathrakh "Total Fucking Necro." Wow, this demo, though. Such hate. Very scares. Wow.
-Fukpig "Spewings From A Selfish Nation." Basically, Anaal Nathrakh if they played bass-heavy crust punk instead of black metal grindcore. Because the members of the two bands are the same. It sounds pretty good. Not something I listen to much at all, though.
-Immortal "Sons of Northern Darkness." These guys can really write a black metal guitar part and make it sound cool. It's sort of the stereotypical black metal album from the stereotypical black metal band.
-Marilyn Manson "Mechanical Animals." Not sure why I own these. /shrug Anyway, it doesn't suck that much if you treat it like a rock album. Unoriginal, silly, but occasionally clever.
-Rush "2112." It's got some great music and some hilariously stupid ideologies.
-Triptykon "Eparistera Daimones." Unf. Anything Thomas Gabriel Warrior is attached to is going to have great guitar tones, and this does not disappoint. Also has some really, really strong music in here.
-Judas Priest "Screaming for Vengeance." Kickass, classic album. Nothing more needs to be said.
-Porcupine Tree "Fear of a Blank Planet." JESUS this music is depressing. Very, very good, though. IIRC it's based on Brett Easton Ellis' books (like "American Psycho") and actually takes from them the nihilism, discontent with modern life, and emotional deadness, rather than just chainsaw murdering and whatnot.
-Kvelertak "Meir." It means "More" and that's what it is. More of the best band out of Norway in recent years. It's what AC/DC would sound like if they came out of the Norwegian black metal tradition.
-Meshuggah "Chaosphere." Pretty good, I guess. Clever, raw sounding - not something I'm in the mood for at the moment, though.
-Tool "Opiate." I like the live songs on this demo/album. They're fun to sing along to.
-Primordial "Redemption at the Puritan's Hand." It's not as good as the album before it, but it's still good. Opening song is the best, followed by the closing, probably.
-Darkspace I. Music for writing about eldritch abominations from beyond the stars.
-Nirvana "In Utero." It's okay. I dunno, not really all that into grunge. Some great songs on here, but rarely stuff I'm in the mood for.
-Cynic "Traced in Air." Weird music. Good, though? Sort of modern prog stuff, robotic, eastern philosophy, death metal influenced but not infused.
-Solstafir "Svartir Sandar." I like them better when they sing in English, tbh. Heresy, I know, but it sounds rawer. Anyway, it kind of overstays its welcome.
-Ulver "Themes From William Blake's The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell." Well, it's what it says! Take Blake, put in... electronic ambient guitar music? Strange music. Pretty good, though.
-Darkspace 3. This album was my first from them. It takes the "pummel you into a new level of consciousness" route and has quotes from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Good music.
-NIN "Purest Feeling." Weird, de-produced remix of NIN's first album. It doesn't suck.
-Katatonia "Night is the New Day." Too obsessed with doing clever things in its songs, but still sounds good.
-Iron Maiden "Powerslave." Woo!
-Philip Glass "Solo Piano." Masterful work. Seriously.
-Insomnium "Across the Dark." It's not their best work, but it's still got some great songs in it.
-Slayer "Seasons in the Abyss." I like it. They didn't try to one-up Reign in Blood, and that was a good decision.
-The Smashing Pumpkins "Oceania." Ew. Well, not ew, but not great.
-Agalloch "Marrow of the Spirit." I just wish it was longer. The weirdest example of a band metamorphosis ever: they make something really accessible ("Ashes Against the Grain") and then say, "Eh, fuck it, let's make the rawest, most extreme thing we've ever done for our next project." The new drummer is amazing, the atmosphere remains intact, whatever the vocalist started doing with his screams sounds amazing, and the cover art is really pretty.
-Gojira "From Mars to Sirius." French extreme metal about being hippies. Great songs, especially the one about the flying whales. Seriously.
-Botanist "II: A Rose From The Dead." Points for creativity and for probably being the only music featuring a hammered dulcimer in my library. Uh, it doesn't really work, though.
-Cult of Luna "Somewhere Along the Highway." Their best album. It sounds like scraping pavement. That's a good thing.
-NIN "Still." Quiet remixes of NIN songs, plus some great original ones. They're... mostly pretty great.
-NIN And All That Could Have Been." Live album, and it's actually great. Who knew?
-ColdWorld "Melancholie²." It's really melancholic.
-Opeth "Still Life." Stop writing concept albums, you're bad at it.
-Puscifer "Conditions of my Parole." Very listenable. Not as silly as previous ones.
-Bob Dylan "Bringing It All Back Home." I like it, I really do.
-Judas Priest "Defenders of the Faith." Holy shit, this album. It's goddamn fantastic.
-"Diluvian Temperals" (multi-band demo). Despite all these bands being different, they all sound the same. If you're into post-rock stuff it's got some good stuff, I guess?
-Steven Wilson "Grace for Drowning." Fuckin' amazing album. Diverse bunch of songs, all of them experimental and great.
-Blood Revolt "Indoctrine." Concept album about a modern day terrorist, I think? It's... kind of scary, actually. Extraordinarily brutal but very clean vocals.
-Ludicra "Fex Urbis Lex Orbis." Kind of droning, and not in a good way. It's got an interesting sound, though.
-Mastodon "Leviathan." Where the hell did this band go? Concept album about Moby Dick. One of the best album intros I've heard in a long time.
-Ghost "Infestissumam." It's got some good songs in it, but I gotta be honest, it's sort of disappointing compared to how great their first was. The production became cleaner, and the actual music became less... Blue Oyster Cult-sounding. That was what made it so charming.
-Tool "Undertow." There was a time when Tool wrote metal songs! This was that time.
-Dream Theater "Systematic Chaos." Ergh. Not a fan of this one, to be honest.
-Porcupine Tree "Nil Recurring." Songs that were cut from "Fear of a Blank Planet." Accordingly, not as good as Fear, but still good.
-Nile "Those Whom The Gods Detest." My first death metal album! Too bad it kinda wasn't that great.
-Cult of Luna "Eternal Kingdom." Not a fan of some of the aesthetic choices they made with the vocals, but it's still a good album.
-Akercocke "Antichrist." What a weird band. Extreme death metal plus progressive rock, I guess? Or, well, more like a section of one followed by a section of the other. Still, both are done well, so it's listenable.
-Steven Wilson "The Raven That Refused To Sing." Do ravens even sing? I don't think they do. Anyway, yeah, another really strong album. Less crazy than Grace, but still pretty.
-Bathory "Blood Fire Death." I will be honest, I only listen to the titular track from this album, but it's SO GOOD.
-Soundtrack to Moon. This is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. Comes from the guy who did Requiem for a Dream and Mass Effect 3, among others. It's gorgeous.
-Queens of the Stone Age "Songs For The Deaf." When I want to listen to easy rock, I listen to this.
-This Is Past "Ugly Music." Where did I even find this stuff. It's... like the soundtrack to a horror film. With the horror film's sounds left in.
-Nest "Trail Of The Unwary." Pretty music. Ambient folksy stuff about nature and things. Think I own it because they did a thing with Agalloch once.
-Portishead "Third." It's pretty good if you like this sort of thing.
-Draugadrottin "Where the Sea Gives Up Its Dead." One of the better bedroom black metal projects I've heard. Songwriting's good. Production's shit. Sounds sad and dreary. What more could you ask for?
-Mastodon "The Hunter." It's still good, but it's just not as heavy as Leviathan. Oh well.
This randomizer is suspect; it keeps hitting the same albums over and over again. Oh well, that's it for now.

Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned when talking to bronies about how you think it's ridiculous how the twilicorn drama has been going on for ten months never say the following phrase of, "I never really liked twilight in the first place cause the other characters were far more interesting" cause they will lose their shit and it won't be pretty.
Signed,

It's possible that the worst thing to do when talking to a person convinced that there's heresy afoot is to say that you're not sure what the big deal is because the old way wasn't all that grand in the first place. =P Mind you I don't agree 'cos I like Twilight pretty well, she's funny and fun to watch, but yeah.

Out of the main six my personal favorite would be applejack then followed by rainbow dash, but they're not the objective best; rather they're my subjective favorite. It's totally okay for people to like twilight sparkle and I totally think you're allowed to have different likes, rather this shit that has been going on in the fandom is stupid.
It's even more stupid when you realize this has been going on without end for ten months, like darwin awards level stupid.
