Robb wasn't a POV character - I guess "minor" might be the wrong term for it, but he was basically somewhere in between Renly and Stannis in importance, or Tywin. He affected things a lot, but wasn't a main character in the way that Catelyn and Tyrion were/are. Main player in the big Westeros Iron Throne throwdown, yes (for a while); main character, no.

Meh, everyone always tells me I'm not supposed to like anything about the new episodes, but they're always better than the whiny, ragey people make them out to be. If we're lucky, this one'll be bad enough to eject them from the fandom, actually. =P Also if you prepare yourself for disappointment you'll pretty much always find it.

Let me put it another way.  Be prepared for this to happen within the fandom:

Arin represents people that like Twilight Sparkle, Jon represents the people laughing at the drama.

When you eventually see it promise me you're not going to ragequit.  It's much easier to just laugh at it and realize that there are going to be some good parts in the episodes.  Even though the core story is bad everything else I actually enjoyed.  Also I nearly lost my shit due to happiness when a side thing happened.  If you are going to watch the episode JUST cause you like Twilight then you're going to be disappointed.

In short:  It would have been a fucking great episode without twilight.

I both love the episode and hate it.  If the season 4 opener was a person I would want to have sex with it.

The inclusion of Hans Zimmer music makes it much more epic

That's really, really lame.
How could anyone enjoy this moment, particularly from a book,with so little backdrop?
My spouse showing me this scene a month or so ago was what made me decide to watch the series. It was beautiful then, but SO MUCH more now.
If his wife was a nobody... not even a good person, and without understanding their plans for the future, the love they shared, all of it... where is the emotional impact? It seems like the scene would be reduced to little more than shock value without knowing and caring about the characters, right?
So yeah, I don't like that >:(

The weird part about it is that you do know and care about Robb in the books. He's important to the story in the impact he has on other characters. You see him from the eyes of a proud mother, a bitter half-brother, his adoring followers, and his sworn enemies. Without directly entering his head, you come to know him in so many different ways. The Red Wedding has such a punch in the books because you deeply care about his cause and well-being and want to see him succeed, so having his journey cut short so suddenly leaves you reeling.

That's the crazy part of A Song of Ice and Fire. It has an ungodly shitton of distinct characters, yet it still somehow makes them memorable and significant through the multifaceted layout of the narrative.
