Speaking of fantasy RPG's, I've often wondered if there's a mod-pack that turns New Vegas into a fantasy game (I.E. a lot more melee weapons, magic instead of energy, ect) mostly because the story and characters seem to run more on the genre conventions of fantasy than they do sci-fi or post-apoc

The Horde of Brutal Warriors(tm) is fighting the Well-Intentioned but Corrupt Alliance (tm) for control of the Ancient Fortress of Power (tm). Intervening is the Weak but Cunning King (tim) and the Dying Knightly Order (tm). Isolated Warrior Tribes (tm) and Towns of Peaceful Villagers(tm) of various type are caught in the crossfire. It appears as though nothing but a Mysterious Stranger with a Dark Past (tm) can break the stalemate. Scattered throughout the world are Ancient Relics (tm) built by The Men of A Bygone Age (tm) that harness the power of magic Science to work wonders.

Tell me that isn't a fantasy story.

Well, you could argue that Fallout's brand of Weird Science is pretty much magic by another name, so, yeah, that's not completely too far out there.


But I think this has more to do with the fact RPGs have taken a lot of "tropes" from the Fantasy genre during their history, than anything else.

Fallout's weird science isn't magic. It's based on what the fifties thought science works like. Radiation makes zombies, robots with brains, laser guns, flying saucers with little grey aliens. That's what the fifties was like.

I know. That was just a jab at the fact the "science" of the setting is extremely soft, wacky, and often unpredictable. And I love it.

just beat final boss for sonic colors! it was epic. once i had all 7 aliens the superpower was a giant laser that so rainbow colored. the level after that was a troll level. you ran for 26.78 seconds then a purple energy portal picked you up and then cutscenes. all in all, a great game! a sonic game with no chaos emeralds, never knew that existed(besides sonic exe).
