Nidal put both her hands onto the circle in the room. All of the circles and lines connecting them lit up, the stairs began to rise again, many cracks telling the group that the mechanic broke. She stood up and stumbled a bit as she tried to walk towards the door.
"That'll stop them. You're correct Arngeirr. Someone paid me to rescue this man from the prison. A hefty sum too. Lead the way, person with the ball of light."

(Sorry, was on a crazy expedition to get a Christmas tree which is a very long and interesting story which should be told at a later time. I JUST got back).

"Oh, I do believe introductions are in order. I'm Arvena, student mage at the College of Arcane Arts."

Arvena made a motion with her hand, and the ball reacted, keeping up with her as she strode down the tunnel.

Nidal chuckled.
"Sure. Mine's Nidal, an alchemic brawler from the small village of Viaefut. It's near the western edge of the country, you might not have heard of it."

"You're right, I haven't been much farther west of where we are now and geography is not my specialty. Though I wonder who could have taught you such powerful alchemy in a small town?"

"A traveling alchemist, actually. Stayed for a few years and left me with a book of alchemy. I memorized all the circles I liked and left it in the village when I set off."

Arvena was suddenly interested, and looked back at Nidal.
"Book of alchemy? You don't happen to still have it would you? I'm always looking for ways to advance my education."

Nidal repeated what she said.

Arvena turned back forward and sighed.
"Damn. Was hoping I could have a some new reading material. I must have read every book in the College's library over the years... not that I can use all that I know."
She didn't even try to hide her disappointment.

Nidal laughed as they walked into a larger chamber.
"From here on, I have no idea. This is where the blueprints end."

(BTW - just gonna say that the time it took us to get to this chamber was like 20 mins. about 3 miles or something.)

The chamber was very simple - just a dirt wall room with a wooden ladder leading up to a trap door.

"Well, nowhere to go but up."

Arvena climbed up and opened the trapdoor, climbing into a worn down and obviously raided old shack. The roof leaked rain into the room and all the furniture was overturned and devoid of any value.

Nidal slowly climbed the ladder and sat down in the shack, water dripping across her body.
"Where should we go next?"

After awhile of watching the prison from different angles, Righel decided it wasn't worth it. He turned and began walking through the woods, intent on finding some creature he could hunt. After a few hours of fruitless searching, he came upon a shack. He pulled out his knife and cautiously approached it. He was about to open the door when he heard a noise from inside. He backed away and crouched under a window, listening for any clues as to who it might be and if they were dangerous or not.

Arvena looked out the broken window.
"Well, there's a cave out there. Somehow, I think it'll provide a little more shelter than this shack."
A thought hit Arvena as she turned back to Nidal.
"Wasn't this whole breakout thing you'r idea? Should'nt you know where to go?"

Nidal chuckled.
"My plan was to get in, take the man, get out, bring him to my client, and finally receive my payment. Taking multiple times as many people from the prison was not part of it.

"Well, I can't tell you how thankful I am that you did take us along. Death isn't on my to do list. By the way, I'd say that judging by what I can see outside, We're in the Evergreen forest, which puts us east of our escape."

The old man climbed up the ladder, followed by Arngeirr, who jumped back as a large drop of rain hit the floor in front of him.

"Afraid of a bit of water?" The old man chuckled.

"Perhaps you'd understand if you'r skin burned at its' touch as well."

Arvena's amulet glowed a deep green for a moment, then went dark again.
"Shit. You, sure?"
The amulet once again momentarily glowed.
"Damn, it seems I've already depleted half of my magic with that simple light spell."
With a gesture, Arvena dispersed the ball of light which went out with a little pop and blast of light.

Arvena sighed.
"It's extremely valuable to me, both sentimentally and monetarily. It was given to me by my brother not long before he died of sudden illness a few years ago. I was there as he died, and somehow managed to trap his soul in the sapphire inlaid in the center. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but it did. The wearer of this amulet is mentally linked with him, and can speak back and forth with him. He can hear all that is said, though unfortunately only I can hear him as I wear it. Early last year, I built a Shield Guardian under the instruction of my teacher. We managed to link him to it. Fortunately for him, he's got a physical form now, but I accidentally damaged it when trying to give it a voice, so the physical body is simply laying in my room back at the college. To my advantage, I can store some energy and a spell or two two in his physical body, which I have done. But the Guardian is so far away, I sap the energy pretty quick."

"Speaking of the college, why are you so far from it?"
She opened the door and looked outside.

"I was sent on an errand by the Head Mage. He heard had heard of some demon worshiping cult in the area, and I was told to scout out the area and see if I could dig up any information."
Arvena shrugged.
"I couldn't find anything. Unfortunately, if you don't pay with gold to learn in the college, you gotta work for the college's interests. Now instead of sitting here and getting dripped on, how about we run on over to that cave there?"

"I second this motion," Arngeirr said as he dodged another drop.

Theradus walked into the cave and noticed torches hanging up on the walls

"Looks like fresh torches. I dont know why someone would place new torches if barely anyone knew about this place to begin with."

Arngeirr sprinted towards the cave cussing aloud everytime water hit him.
"screw this, I should've stayed in my cell!"
He grabed one of the torches and waved it around him in an effort to dry himself.

The cave walls were coated with scratches and dents from what obviously had been a Miner's pick in years past. Torches placed at rather distant intervals, leaving areas of deep shadow, burned brightly - this is no vacant cave...

Arvena laughed as she watched the cursing doppelganger sprint past her."Yes, this cave looks rather dry, though the burning torches are a bit worrisome. I think we should go greet whoever is living in this cave then rest for the night."

Khaj'darrak wandered along behind the group silently, but still very clearly unhappy about the heavy precipitation.

The old man took up the rear as he entered the cave, and stopped for a moment. When no one was looking, He touched the outside of the cave with his left hand and touched a tattoo on the back of his neck that looked like a phoenix. It glowed dimly for a moment, and when he removed his hand, a phoenix of the exact same shape was burned into the stone. He quickly caught up with the rest of the group.

"Lets start our exploration of this cave, shall we?"
She grabbed a torch off the wall and continued walking further into the cave.

Arngeirr held his torch high as the rest of the group walked deeper into the cave.
"I once got trapped in a cave, had to survive off of bugs and bats for two weeks. Bats actuall taste real good, try them if you get the chance."
