The mechanism doesn't look quite right for an HK416

The slide release, stock and charging handle setup would be obscured by the polymer (FUTURE) shell, but you can see the front end of the gas piston at the end, and the mag release and safety are similar to some AR-15 models, like mine.

So it's probably not a 416 from H&K, but it is, likely, a piston-drive AR of some flavor

Personally if technology advanced to the point of practical use energy weapons like laser, it may still behoove manufactures to make the weapons be able to use ballistic rounds.

I dunno, for ascetic purposes I'd imagine they would at the contrary tend to strip the gun to its barest constituent.
