First I was thinking about the stuff everyone's writing about themselves (btw, I really missed the actually readable text walls that Sindri produces), then I was annoyed because of how Frost just needs to constantly remind everyone of his fetish for guns, and then I jumped to methods of converting a cut-off section from a Bofors gun tube into a fleshlight.

I'm generally the weird one of my group of friends, which I suppose is saying quite a bit considering the people I hang out with. As far as the stuff that friends just have to bring up, for me it's just the times when my brain slows to a crawl on some things, like the time I was struggling to operate a nerf gun of all things. (To explain, I basically just decided that the whole subject was so complex and unimportant that applying categories wasn't worth it. I like to think that I'm following the example of Captain Jack Harkness, minus actually being sexually or romantically active. :))

I'm well aware that there's a broad spectrum between 'gay' and 'straight' even before you get into the more esoteric descriptors, and none of the categories are clear-cut or well-defined, but I still think that the terminology is useful. Just because there's an infinite number of shades of purple between blue and red doesn't make the words useless, y'know? And I don't think sexual orientation is going to stop being a thing, at least not without a couple of centuries of cultural and psychological shifting. However there's already a lot of progress (and it shows no sign of stopping) toward giving up on forcing people to comply with one of the acceptable categories; perhaps soon we'll actually see the day when the words are just descriptors instead of limitations.
