Just played my first game with the Centurion. I've used free xp to research the tracks, turret and 20pdr but don't have enough credits for the gun yet but was itching to try it so I rolled with the Comet's gun. Turret pretty bouncy to other tier 8 mediums, front angled can deflect a lot of hits from the tier 8 chinese medium.
I did get ammoracked in the first game though. By one of my moronic russian heavy allies who deiced to shoot the tier 8 chinese medium I was moving towards to get out of los of other potential enemies, hit me in my 40mm backside taking off half of my health and my ammorack. Got killed by the chinese tank very shortly after that. Can't fault the tank though because the entire enemy team were mediums wheras my team were all heavies- there is me and one other person trying to hold the east side of Ruinberg just isn't going to happen.
Gun depression is great so I'll be using it to my advantage a lot. I have high hopes for this tank, although I hear the 20pdr is unreliable as all hell to actually penetrate anything despite what the stats and ludicrous shell cost would lead you to believe.

I call mine the Ramwell Mk4. Pretty much how I play it. It's so light but the horsepower per ton is ridiculous to just cannonball into things. Even taken out a KV-2 once in a ram at 80km/h.

And I'll try a Ramwell. I've used it to ram only as last resort in most cases.

I kinda wish I had been recording when I got 7 kills, defender, sharpshooter*, Ace Tanker, and of course Top Gun in the Crusader.
Worthy of note because the combo is 14 and I missed in that battle.

I've evaluated the M103, currently still stock, as being pretty awesome.
It can fight on the line against tier 8 and 9 tanks, which the T32 couldn't do. Even with the T32's worst-105mm-gun-in-tier-8, its ability to stay in the fight without moving as much makes shot placement better and thus more effective. Mobility is actually really good for a stock tank, equal or better in all regards to the T32. Hull and turret traverse, and gun depression, are seemingly better.
It makes more credits and costs less to repair than the M46, having 50 hp more, but that'll change with the second turret.

I like it.

Unlocked the Centurion I. Just need to afford it now.

Only thing is, it's useless (more than usual) right now. I realised you need to have 32,000 free exp to make it even playable to begin with. I don't even have 10k because WoT is so stingy with it.

The galling thing is that the Centurion I has no suspension upgrade from Mk1 to MkIII in real life. They just stuck an "A" on the end to force you to take longer to upgrade the tank. It's nothing but gameplay padding. 16k for a suspension upgrade that doesn't actually exist. And you can't get the turret without it.

For crying out loud, the 20 pounder wasn't even capable of being mounted on the MkII turret in the game like WG seems to think it can be on the Caernarvon. They only make the Caern the MkII and the Centurion the MkIII simply to force you to grind all over again for the same damned turret. Literally the only difference between the turrets in real life was the MkIII has the mounting for a 20 pounder cannon and the MkII was mounted for the 17 pounder. So why do they not share the same turret?

Unbelievable lack of actual research coupled with shoddy game design simply to force you to spend longer grinding with an awful version of the tank.

Furthermore, the Centurion was adopted in replacement of the Charioteer in wider use because the Centurion easily outperformed the Comet platform in speed so the Charioteer "fast medium" cruiser concept was now obselete.

So why is the Centurion less speedy and agile than the Comet in the game when it was specified in the design brief and testing results that the Centurion was massively more mobile than a Comet?

I've had to save for months to get enough free xp to get the equipment for the Centurion on unlock. I desperately need my commander to get to 100% skill training so I can switch it to 6th sense for this tank. Everyone can see you a long, long time before you can see them, which is bad when you're driving a glass box.

No, I never use free exp for tank unlocks.

What do you mean switching skills? If you switch them then you drop to something like 86% and it takes forever to get it back up again, especially on a non-elited tank. You sure that would have enough of a benefit really? I'd rather just get the skill faster myself.

As another note, I'm beginning to have a serious distaste with the AT-8 lately. The AT-2 gets by on account of its low tier, but the AT-8 gets no extra armour leading it to be a pathetically easy tank to penetrate from virtually anywhere. One that actually has more weakpoints than the AT-2 (almost 25% of its front hull is 75mm) and has only a 7.5 degrees gun arc in all directions other than down which is only five degrees. I believe it may be the smallest TD traverse in the entire game, actually.

Edit - Just checked. It's even smaller than the ARL's. Let that be the comparitive thought of how nightmarish this thing is to drive.

So to recap...it basically has no armour. It only moves at 20km/h. It can't aim at anything unless it's standing still. Its gun is so low damage that you need them to stay standing still forever to do anything worthwhile. It can't turn worth a damn so you are entirely reliant upon your teammates to support you. It's camo rating is awful.

Just what is the advantage of British TD's again?

WG says its the armour, but 203 isn't really that much with the amount of derp flying around, or the gold. Or just, y'know, aiming at the very obvious weakpoints. AT-2's are jokes these days.

The worst part is, taking a look at the tier 7 AT-7, it has no more armour than the AT-2, no more gun movement arc than the AT-8 and it is yet another tank forced to use the bankrupcy cannon 20 pounder.

And people wonder why I get all ragey about this nation tree sometimes.
