Hmm, I'm pretty sure the only people who hate Gurren Lagann are people who don't like over the top ridiculousness, and those people are rarely fun to hang out with in the first place.Last wrote:Weird, I hate mechs and loved gurren lagann.

Any particular mech tropes you hate? I'm mostly eh on the mech genre, especially the 'super one of a kind prototype' and 'angsty teen ace' tropes. Whenever shows show mechs just being another weapon on the battlefield I generally like them.Last wrote:Weird, I hate mechs and loved gurren lagann.
The first couple of episodes are a 'bit' slow, so the later 2/3's are the best bits for me.swicked wrote:I only watched the first three or four episodes but I remember it boring me or something.

I only saw the last two or three episodes of Gurren Lagann, and they confused the hell out of me. Obviously that's fairly normal, but it gave me the impression that that effect was more pronounced than it would be for most shows, even those with real continuity. If not as bad as just catching the last few episodes of Evangelion.

@Icy
I expect the only thing more confusing than watching only the last couple of episodes of Gurren Lagann would be watching the first two and then the last two.
EDIT: Actually no there's a thing in the beginning that would link 'em, I forgot. Anyway yeah, that would give you a strange impression of the show.

Read it. There's not much there beyond promises to "look into" some of the more egregious abuses. Nothing inspires confidence.

The bitter enemy, sand, has returned, and it has allied with the formerly-neutral wind. Bravo company seeks cover. Attempts to counterattack in hand-to-hand or with melee weapons or firearms have been ineffective. 20-hour mission to begin on schedule regardless.

I'm actually not sure why you'd associate this with me, though; there might be trains involved, yes, but, among other things, I think I've mentioned that I don't care much for giant humanoid robots? And building them out of trains (or any such subvehicle) is even worse.

No need to be sorry, really, that just a clickbait. And yeah, I did post it just because of the trains, really. At this point, it's pretty much flanderization, I guess? Tell me if you find it annoying and I'll stop.
As for the EmDrive, yeah, I'm eagerly waiting for more info. And even if it isn't actually producing a warp bubble, I'm pretty confident this is going to make science progress in that field anyway.

Valve 'n Beth backed down from the paid modding Skyrim stuff. Hopefully the next time they try this, it'll be done better, and not be done on an abandoned game, among other things.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
That was a pretty frank no bullshit statement from Valve. Hopefully next time they'll learn from this mess and come out with a better solution. Also, if not Skyrim then what other game? It's one of the most well known games that basically known for it's mods rather than the base game itself.Overlong Analysis Cobalt wrote:Valve 'n Beth backed down from the paid modding Skyrim stuff. @String
Fallout 4, for instance. A game Bethesda is actually invested in, and whose community they might therefore bother supporting. They're still pretty much guaranteed a big ol' modding community once the construction kit equivalent comes out; hell, you could do a closed beta and invite a whole bunch of modders to come out and release day zero moDLC or whatever. That way, even if Beth changes nothing else about their approach, it'll be more like giving birth to a baby with no legs, instead of taking a normal toddler and chopping its legs off. The community that is created around the game will be one centered around the idea of paid modding, rather than having it thrust into them unexpectedly long after the mantle of content-creation was passed to them. Still might not work, especially if they put in their standard level of effort, but they'll run into fewer problems on their end and experience less rabble-rousing.

So has anyone else heard anything about Space Hulk: Deathwing? I've watched the trailers and read a little bit about it. I really hope this game turns out good, I've been craving another good 40k game...

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
Considering the previous Space Hulk got middling reviews I'd wait before buying, but hopefully it'll be good. GW doesn't do enough to spread the word of 40k, all the products are aimed at already inducted fans. A good video game, TV show (live action, animated, or even CGI) or movie (again, live action, animated, or even CGI) coupled with a new edition/army release/PRICE DROP for the tabletop game and they could not only bring back old fans (like myself) but also new people as well.Guarddogjr wrote:So has anyone else heard anything about Space Hulk: Deathwing? Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I want a game (40k or not) where you're some kind of elite soldier/agent/whatever, where the first few missions are an absolute walk in the park, going up against dumb thugs/cannon fodder/mooks etc. that you can beat with ease. However, after a certain point, as the plot demands, anywhere from a few missions in to 1/4th of the way through the game...bam! a team of elite special forces show up and you're forced to put your skills into overdrive just to stay alive, let alone beat them. hopefully they run on good AI rather than just more damage/health/numbers etc. so that even when you do get better equipment/skills/whatever, you still panic whenever they show up.Guarddogjr wrote:Oh I planned on waiting after it released, whenever that'll be, I just really want it to be good. Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
Watching Railgun s (by accident, stumbled across the japanese name and thought it was the first series) I don't really know what to think of it.
On one hand when the show is more serious it's manages to be pretty compelling. The action looks amazing and the tone can get pretty heavy. On the other, when it's calm, I feel like I can just zone out and not really miss much.
