Ack, I've been having tinnitus and ear weirdness recently (turns out it's from wax buildup, which I'm sure was something you all needed desperately to hear), and they cleaned 'em out today. Long story short, it's like the high end frequencies of life have been turned waaay up. Even my laptop's keyboard is insanely clicky now. Feels like having a mechanical one, which I can assure you it is not. Even can hear the desk's microvibrations from my keystrokes tapping against an old tin can on the shelf. And my mouse sounds insanely strange. I don't know that my hearing has actually gotten better (though it's certainly possible) so much as the range of frequencies I can pick up just got a huge boost. REALLY weird experience. Still totally have tinnitus, but only the stuff I've had since being a toddler AFAICT, so yeah. God damn, just clicking is so much more satisfying now. Can't wait to hear actual music like this.

Sci, I think you're the one that got me into it. I watched Madoka Rebellion.

- That ending, the series' ending stung, but it was the bitter-sweet kind. Yeah the heroine made her sacrifice but you could rest assured that the world was in a better place for it.
This ending I'm not sure there is an upside. The friends are reunited but they would have been anyway as we saw with Sayaka, and if we were to trust Homura with what she had said to Kyubey (something about needing the incubators more now for all the curses) the world appears to be worse off for it. Not to mention Sayaka seems to believe the law of the cycle has been diminished somewhat now.
If there is a happy note to be had I think would depend on how much you dislike Kyubey, looks to me as if he's been made to understand despair. On reflection I guess that's what this ending was all about, Madoka's sacrifice was about hope while Homura's love was more about despair.

Oh yes, definitely. Part of the reason that Rebellion's ending is so bitterly contested is because it's so ambiguous and just such a damn downer. I love it so much but I hate it so much because it's a brutal deconstruction of the kind of happy ending that I emotionally wanted. Everybody is alive and well again, and Kyoko and Sayaka can now engage in adorable lesbian activities, but in order to do so, Homura basically became Satan and doomed herself to eternally become Madoka's enemy. It's a happy ending that's horribly tragic and doomed to self-destruct and I love it.
Also, OTP is fuckin' canon.

Okay, that was really weak but since it's Mami and Charlotte, it must be done. Sorta unrelated but there was also a moment where Mami was brushing her hair while humming her theme and it made me really happy for some reason.

This article is super neat. It touches a bit on cybernetics - talks about some of the interesting neurological stuff that happened to a guy who had an artificial heart implanted in his stomach-region. Made him feel like his actual chest extended much lower down or something. Worth a read.

- Yes, KyoSaya OTP is so canon I can't even. I mean, they're literally sharing an apartment and more importantly, they hold hands (as Sayaka confesses that she reciprocates Kyoko's feelings). Even though Sayaka's world has fallen apart, at least she won't be alone.
That's part of why I love Rebellion so much is just that it's the show except everything is ratcheted up. The nuanced writing is ramped up, the lesbian overtones are ramped up, the scoring is fantastic, the animation is just fucking gorgeous, and, as you said, the Mami/Homura battle was the shit.
