It's really just checking ID's at the gate. My shift proper doesn't start until 2100 and ends officially at 0500 (assuming the relief is on time) but we have to be at the MP station to get our briefing and gear (and sidearms, for the NCOs) at 2000, which is fairly reasonable. But my battallion, for whatever the fuck reason, wants us to meet every goddamn day at 1600--to do what; I have no idea. Then, rather than having us do PT on our own as is normal for gate-guard, the company wants us to meet at 1400 to do PT. I really hope this 1600 thing is for tomorrow only; since there's no goddamn point to it.
