The secret is stealing only a few strategic loot, like the plasma caster and other goodies from the Silver Rush, in a way where you are not seen in order to not antagonize people. As for stealing "everything", the weight limit is a hard one for me. So I only take what has real value from corpses : guns, armor, ammo, food & chems. And I repair things to further educe weight and increase value (maxing repair is one of the things I always end up doing, if only for the jury-rig perk).

So you need :

- To cause the most mayhem possible, to always choose the outcome that will cause the most pain and suffering in the long term ;

- To utterly destroy every NCR guy you encounter ;

- To be on the best possible terms with the Legion considering the two above points.

I dunno... Do you want to stay on good terms with the Gun Runners ? You could start there. Alternatively, there's the Boomers. Or you could just say fuck it and rob the armory of Mc Carran.

Swicked, have you've been collecting NCR dogtags to give the the guy at Cottonwood Cove? that should give you some points with the Legion.

Also, Nuking the NCR supply route at the end of Lonesome Road will also net you a massive popularity bonus with the Legion.

Oh, and since you're playing as a lady, I suggest taking the Black Widow perk, sleeping with Benny, and then killing him when you're done. I find it to be the most satisfying way of dealing with him, especially if you take his gun afterwards and blow his head of his corpse.

If I remember right, once you kill Benny, that's when you'll start getting quests for the legion.

Truthfully though, the best way to get in good with the legion is just to F%^& over every other faction in the mojave.

Oh and if you need C4, there are seven blocks of it in the Lakelurk cave at Camp Guardian, along with a remote detonator to go with it.

I robbed the Sierra Madrea of everything not nailed down. Everyone but the Ghoul and the Father made it out alive. I tried my best with the Ghoul but not wanting to kiss his ass meant he tried to turn on me. Tried.. he was a damn fool thinking someone who had walked three three kinds of hell could be stopped with a popgun of a pistol. He emptied his entire clip into my armor before I put a spear in his face. The monster and the mute made it out alive and better for it. Sad I can't bring the Christine back to Veronica, I think they would do each other a world of good.

When I went north to Zion this time I drove the White Legs out. Sure it might have resulted in militarizing the tribes. But we can't have a bunch of tribals two weeks walk from the Mojave and not meddle. More importantly they act as a break on Caesar, I like thwarting a slaver and as I've said before no matter the circumstances I always side against slavers whenever offered the chance or choice. Zion was a welcome diversion and I've got an entire hydroponics garden going in the bunker as a result.

Boone, Veronica and ED-E are staying at the bunker while I dealt with the Big Empty which can be defined as "that time I emptied the big Empty' Also the think tank firmly believes they are working together with Dr Mobius! I have demanded they construct a workable jetpack for Dr Mobius get around faster, they told me they would get back to me on that.

As I walk the Lonesome road to finish of the DLC before getting back to the main game I've already hit 41 using elite riot armor. The NCR loves me as does the legion, the powder gangers... do not exist and the Brotherhood is starting to become fans. So much left to do, so many open spots on my wall of weapons in the bunker I need to fill in.

Ah yeah, that Enclave armor. There's an Alpha Male and Female over there as well as other Deathclaws. Funny enough if you go into water deep enough to start swimming they stop attacking and walk back.

You're probably a high enough level to not worry too much but kiting them that way worked for me.

The only problem is that apparently they respawn, so grinding them away from a distance won't work if you take too long.

Also, there's a bug that make it so that the bodies of the scavengers wearing the armors might fall through the ground out of reach, so be aware of that.

I was going to say "Who takes three days to kill a pack of deathclaws?"

But I guess if you're at a really low level when attempting to clean them out that may be the case. And I didn't know about that bug, but it sounds like something that would happen.

Swicked, there are two sure fire ways I know of to get the NCR to revile you.

1) Nuke their supply lines in Lonesome Road.
2) Activate the Archimedes I plant defense system to kill all the NCR troops at the HELIOS One solar plant. If done during the "That Lucky Old Sun" quest, The Legion will occupy the  area one or two days later.

You don't have to activate the Archimedes I to use the C-Finder, you just have to divert power to the Archimedes II. You also don't have to divert power to the Archimedes II in order to use the Archimedes I. In fact, as long as you don't activate the Emergency Power option, you can activate the Archimedes I at any time.

Yeah, the implication of if your character has been there before is somewhere between "It was just another road so I didn't care" and "I didn't know the Divide was the same area".

And Ulysses was created for the soul reason just to be your opposite regardless of faction and karma.
"You are with the Bear, I was with the Bull. The Bear takes everything it can see, pushing well beyond it's limit and weakening itself."

"You are will the Bull, I WAS with the Bull. Caeser had my people killed and had me help the White Legs destroy New Canaan where they started wearing dreads in honor of me and pissed me off."

"You're will the old man in the Tower, you're more a slave to the past then I am."

Yeah I don't really know what he says about the Legion, House, or Yes Man, but in the end it boils down to "You destroyed the place I could call home, now to make you pay."

The Flare Gun is awesome though.

I used my 100% speech skill to convince Ulysse to join my side, my 100% science skill to save ED-E, and I launched the nuke on the Legion's position.

That's what I can remember.

On a side note, I don't know this from personal experience of course but apparently if you do Lonesome Road before the President shows up and nuke the NCR you end up killing him and skipping that quest.

IIRC, Ulysse in my playthrough was a reformed ex-Legion, and if he didn't like the Bear, he didn't like the Bull either, considering what they had done to his tribe. So I offered him a shot at redemption. Do better.

As for the nuke, I hesitated, but considering it was "launch the nuke on the Legion who I'm probably going to kill to last myself anyway" and "let ED-E die", the choice was quickly made.

Plus, concerning Ulysse, I needed someone I could trust to guard the Divide and to ensure that the bad things stay contained inside it.

And I figured I could always use someone like that, able to stand up to me, on my side.

To be honest I don't exactly remember if he was aiming someone in particular with that nuke or if he had just decided to put me before a moral dilemma.

But anyway, guarding the Divide is his redemption, as far as I'm concerned.

And every time I go visit him, he's just chilling on the cliff at the entrance of the Divide, watching the place from on high. He doesn't seem to be taking this too bad. More like accepting his fate.



PS : between the Legion and a copy of ED-E, I prefer to sacrifice the Legion.

IIRC he was aiming at everyone, NCR, Legion, New Vegas.

Despite everything I kinda like him. He explains his 'hate' towards Courier by the fact, that Courier 'delivered machine, that start speaking and missiles launched in air and then Divide appeared.'

What I do at the end of Lonesome Road depends on the character I'm playing at the time.  I usually try to stop the launch, actually (sometimes to save innocents, sometimes because you can't conquer/tax corpses), but some characters either don't have ED-E with them or have different priorities.  My current character, for instance, is working for Mr. House and much prefers robots to organic people.  After dusting Ulysses with a laser rifle from stealth and the elevator alcove before he could open his mouth: "Hm, a cute and friendly eyebot or a bunch of useless, filthy savages?  Hard choice."  This is also a negative karma playthrough; earlier, this character used Veronica to gain access to Hidden Valley, strung her along until she revealed some potentially quite useful technological knowledge, and then remorselessly lasered her to death with the rest of the Brotherhood (even though I actually do have the mod that makes it possible to resolve things peacefully between them and House).  And betrayed the Boomers, helping them long enough to decide that they were a threat and then lasering them to death.

I'm a liitle surprised you're not counting any of the innocent life trapped by the legion, Harmony. People that live in their territories, slaves that live among them, etc. The army of the legion lies primarily with Caesar; you're bombing the people they've left behind.

It was just one nuke on just one outpost, and my character is pragmatic enough to understand that even if a hundred civilian died, a hundred times more would likely be saved from enslavement by the Legion.

"Paragon" doesn't mean that you never kill innocents. Just that when you do, you do it thinking you did the right thing.

Any techniques through getting through that abbadon cave with all the tunnelers? I ended up just running through while they took down the robot.

I have to confess that I momentarily used god mode there... Generally speaking, I didn't have any qualm at using god mode against tunnelers. Even when I was over lvl 40, these thing could kill me in three seconds, and I didn't use the Red Glare, finding it to take too much weight between the weapon and its ammos (playing in hardcore mode).

Yeah, rusty was a cool addition. I believe it was doctor 0 he did the VA for? If I remember correctly the two doctors are pretty much the same character personality wise.

Granted it wasn't hardcore mode but Tunnelers never gave me too much trouble at any level. Hell, I had found a chainsaw one playthrough and even with a crappy melee skill I just held the fire button during the elevator sequence and they died quick enough.

Most trouble I have is the pack with the queen. I target her first, try to get a sneak attack crit, Flashbang the crowd in hope I frenzy them against each other, Flare anything that gets too close and generally pour on the fire. Riot shotguns loaded with anything tear through them but if you have Gun Runner's Assault then I guess Fletch Rounds work wonders.

I've tried that in multiple fallout and like-fallout games, and I can never make it very far. I just don't like that type of game.

That type of game? Do you mean game as in run-through with a particular build, or game in a much broader sense?

In NV there's a robot who asks for a password, and the answer is "Ice Cream", which you can guess through luck or use science to get around. However with the stupid character, the only two options you get is "Leave" or "ICE CREAM!!!!!!". And in Old World Blues, your own brain insults you for being so fucking stupid.
