But why would pegasi need airstrip? Based on show they can hover, if needed. In WB academy they had airstrip..well..my guess just to show where to land.

While it has external 'airstrip', it's more of internal. From what we know pegsi doesn't have to gain 'take off' speed, since they gaining this speed in an instant (based on show). So in this case airstrip might be used to make it easier for wings of pegasi (formation, I mean) take off simultaneously.

Helicopters can't fly as high as airplanes can. Nor as fast.

That's not what I meant. What I was saying is that the airships would need landing strips due to the altitudes they would most likely be operating at. Such altitudes where planes could go but helicopters could not.

Maybe I'm too tired or distracted by work (or both), but I don't quite get what you both are saying. I don't get this '100 mm cannon' and stuff about helicopters. I repeat my question, is there something jet-like in FoE or something, that would require airstrip?
I might be just too tired, so sorry if my question is dumb...

There were Raptors(We're talking about the thunderheads having airstrips right?), Skywagons (which in the show were capable of hovering.) sky tanks and the bus thing that pip's crew flew around in.

I can't remember off the top of my head how any of those vehicles take off.
