Just came off a thread on Facebook that got out of hand. At the end of it the regular "trolls" and the regular regulars said good night to each other and hoped it was as fun next time, while the new people who think they were trolling are still attempting to, and it's kinda sad, like watching a chicken with clipped wings try to fly.

I figured out that it's absolutely fine / healthy for me to self loathe.
Why?
Hear me out on this.

I love Crimson, I love Cherry. I love Crimson as my son or best friend almost, I am utterly in love with Cherry and if she was a person, I would do anything to try win her over.
How does this change anything?

Both Crimson and Cherry are me. Not just "I write them so they are me" but very literally, they are specific parts of who I am, the way I act, the way I feel, the morals I have... they take who I am and characterise it for themselves. They are a selection of me, and thus, I love myself.

Through them, I love myself because if I am in love with them, I must be in love with who I can be... right?
And so, it's healthy for me to loathe myself!

I dunno. The logic sound flawed, but I'm a bit too tired right now to analytically poke a hole in it.

To be quite honest, I still struggle to conceive how self-loathing could be perceived as a positive thing. It still seem, ultimately, self-destructive.

Chill out Kipper, they're only fictional characters. The most I've been attached to my creations is that I would be offended if unsavory fanart of them was made and blatantly brought to my attention. Even then, I'm mostly sure that I've outgrown that phase. Or when you say that, you hate yourself? In that case, I'll just say that it's not a healthy habit and leave it at that.

I'm going to be the biggest nerd and quote a Dark Tranquillity song: even the broken break. I don't think you deserve hate from anyone, least of all yourself (that's hate you can't escape from), and while I'd not question your ability to take punishment, it's not like you're not hurting. As for what else there is... I don't know. That's a level of existentialism that I'm not capable of answering. Love and appreciate yourself for what you are, I suppose, and learn to understand and tolerate your failings when you cannot beat them. It's a long, arduous journey.
