Not certain she's a reaper, the way one of the ponies reacted to her implies that but I think that may have been a mis understanding of her job on their part.

I haven't really been following the tumblr too closely as I don't really like Pantzar's art style, but I think what you're referring to is the Omega symbol on the letter?

Well what if part of her job is to collect bodies from the morgue? I know the Omega symbol can mean date of death so I think that fits in well with the body collecting aspect of her job. If you're talking about the actual contents of the letter then those are a bit harder to explain, they certainly seem to imply what you're talking about, but that may just be the point.

Get the reader to think what the villagers think.

The text posts don't give much towards the literal reaper theory, but the latest art post does potentially hint at it. I mean, that's one sinister looking letter, and the three days, one name(unless Headstone is another), a location, and time...

Mostly it was because the letter said "Three days - Sunset" and "Speak with him today". I could be wrong, but to me that translates to speaking with someone who is close to death to get their wishes about where to be buried and what their headstone should say.
On top of that, one mare actually said "You aren't here for my baby are you?", which leads me to believe she may have a habit of showing up to see someone a few days before they die.
So maybe she isn't necessarily reaping them, but maybe getting a heads-up about when someone will die so she can speak with them about their last will and testament.

I don't get the Sunset Shimmer picture. Specifically, the hearts in the eyes.
I've seen a lot of art around with the light blobs in the eyes being white hearts, or their irises being hearts, or just hearts in general being in their eyes.
I know it's a stupid thing to get hung up on, but I just see it and think about paper hearts being in my eyes or something and... ugh.

Again, I know it's stupid, but I wish artists would let eyes be eyes.

I don't think I've seen that from many other artists,I could just be remembering wrong however. I think that's supposed to be the Shimmer artist's signature or something. I thought he was only doing that in his Twiluna blog though. Guess I was wrong.

He's done it at least a few times. Most of the art from that blog I see has the hearts in them, so I always thought it was part of his style.

That logic is perfectly sound, but again I believe that's the point. I think the letter (By the way the ring you're talking about was what was used to keep the letter closed. It's about the same size as the scroll.) is written in such a way to imply that she is a reaper of some sort. I'm pretty sure that's done intentionally to make the villagers seem more reasonable in their dislike of her.

That theory on her hearing their final wishes had also occurred to me by the way.

Per the show, they pretty much dislike anyone wearing a hood, especially if they paw at the ground from time to time.
They are very odd ponies and don't need a reason to segregate.

Well, her eventually being attacked for taking someone's loved one away from them is now inevitable. Heck, there's more than a decent chance it's happened before.
Somber's done a great job of adding grim and dark to vanilla MLP :)

That he has, he has written a rather nice story about Rainbow Dash and her menagerie of sisters if you don't like Grimdark, I think he also wrote a shipping story about AJ and Rarity. The premise of it was Rarity holding up the promise she made about taking part in the next rodeo that came to town.

Both of which I enjoyed a great deal.

Plus, it might be hard for Celestia to be up on who dies and when considering she wasn't around for much of pony history, only the last millennium or so.

Then again, I think that may be a lie. Why would Luna sign a letter with Omega? And it does make her job sound a little more... good? She's already hated and outcast, imagine how she would be treated if she put out that she worked not for one of the Princesses, but Death itself?

But if she does, that presents an...interesting development.
That would cause the assumption that Luna is then in charge of death. Going with the theme of night/day, dark/light, etc. that would then make Celestia the ruler of life, yes?

Well her sun is very important to plant growth. Some people see nature being synonymous with life... Maybe? I'm having trouble picturing what kind of duties would come with that title. Would they be similar to the stork or something?

The duties of someone in charge of death are a lot more obvious, well to me at least.
