I honestly wouldn't mind her replacing Twilight.

I'm going to go with the same philosophy I use for rumours in general and wait until it is released or officially announced.
I don't think they should simply replace Twilight, however.

Newfie thing. There isn't really a name for them here, though I've never heard anyone call another person a 'Skeet'. To me, its meaning is linked to skeet shooting.

Back from watching Evil Dead with friends.


Is it bad as soon as I got back here I thought "I wonder want the Pony version of Evil Dead would be like. Would it be all earth ponies or could you fit unicorns and pegasi in there as well?"

I saw Evil Dead as well. I rather liked it. What was your impression, Guard?

Think you mean Moody there Frost, unless Guard mentioned seeing it earlier and I missed that.

In any case, I rather enjoyed it. It seemed to be mostly practical effects and what was CGI wasn't obvious or over used in my opinion. It certainly did shoot for the feeling of the original Evil Dead movie with playing the horror and gore straight rather then what Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness did, and I gotta say it was brutal to watch at times.

Also, I dare say it's what a Remake should be. Taking elements and cues from the source material, paying homage to it without being a shot for shot remake, and being it's own film that can be watched on it's own.

I still like the original Evil Dead better, but the remake did earn it's place as a good film to me.

Anyway, I concur on your points. I also liked that we saw more of the Necronomicon Ex Mortis this time around, and the creepy writings and passages within.

I'm reminded of the The Thing prequel from a year or so back. That one, by contrast, wasn't that good at all. Compared to the original's paranoia-inducing focus and themes, that one was mostly just a "trapped in a house with a monster" bog-standard horror film

Ah yes, John Carpenter's 1982 film The Thing. Didn't know who you could trust, the suspense and tension expertly built up, dark and confined, and so cold you really believed they was in Antarctica.

As oppose to the 2011 prequel. One American girl, and one of two female characters in the movie, with a bunch of Norwegians in a Hollywood made film... I wonder who the "hero" is gonna be.

Okay, that was unfair but the 1982 film is one of those films you watch and wonder "How the hell did they do that?" because it was all practical effects. Puppets, models, and proper use of camera angles and lighting. While the 2011 film went with "We're gonna film this scene, and the effects guys can put the creature in later." And it just didn't capture the proper feeling in general. The movie didn't even really bring across the fact they was in Antarctica. The movie didn't feel cold.
I try to give it a chance, but the creature seemed like it was mugging for the camera. Like it couldn't NOT be out in the open rather than quietly hiding and assimilating the humans like it was suppose to.
