"Clock...when...when I was young...I loved Mirabelle, and I still do. I was too afraid that she would reject me and then...when I finally worked up the courage to say something we were attacked. I thought she was dead Clock. And...and she might be dying right now. I...I know I'm an asshole. I know that I don't deserve to be happy at all...but Miri makes me happy, and...and I have to go to her Clock," Charcoal said softly. "I'm sorry...I...I know I don't deserve it but...I hope we can still be friends."

Clock couldn't believe what she was hearing. So many emotions started clawing at her heart.

Vindication
Rage

Every emotion pulling her in a different direction until finally... just... snap.

Clock stood up and went back to the chair with the coat. She picked up the coat and took it back to Charcoal and gave it to him. Her eyes looked lifeless and stared straight ahead through Charcoal (or more precisely through his hooves), "Thank you for coming by Charcoal. I wish you a happy life with miss Mirabelle. Goodbye."

Charcoal looked at the coat, recognizing it. He frowned and put it in his bags. He then picked up Dinner Bell and carried her, leaving the room without a word. Charcoal then made his way back to the clinic. "Doc? Is it alright if I stay with her?" He asked hopefully.

"Sure, just try not to wake her. She needs to rest," the pony replied.

"Thank you," Charcoal said softly. He then entered the room where Miri lay recovering. He cradled Dinner Bell in his hooves, rocking her gently back and forth as he waited.

Clock collected her things and left her room. She dropped her key off at the front desk. She left through the front gate and found Viktor near the building that the rest of the group. He was sitting with his back against the building. She crawled up onto his lap and curled up.

Viktor was surprised by her sudden appearance, "Clock okay?"

"No, Viktor."

"Viktor help?"

Clock was silent for a long time, "Just... never leave me."

Viktor nodded silently, and then started stroking her back.

After a while, Mirabelle's eyes slowly opened and she groaned.

"Miri." Charcoal said with relief. "Miri, I'm here. We're both here," Charcoal said softly, holding Dinner Bell up to her, with a soft smile on his face.

Mira grinned and held a hoof out to stroke the filly's cheek. "How long was I out?"

[XT Vengeance]

"Five hours, Miri. The longest hours of my life," he said, smiling softly, tears welling up in the corners of his eyes.

[Orm]

Searchlight walked out of the building looking at the picture he had found in the house. As he stepped out he saw Clock on Viktor's lap. "Clock, you okay?" He asked the mare.

[Tytan]

"...Fine," she answered simply.

Mira smiled and moved a hoof to his face, touching him softly before pulling back and coughing. "Ouch..."

"Clock, don't lie to me. If something is wrong you can tell."

[Tytan]

"No, I'm fine," tears start to swell in her eyes and she can't hide the sadness creeping into her voice, "I swear I'm fine."

[Orm]

Searchlight folded the picture and put it in his pocket. "Tell me what happened." He said as he sat in front of the mare.

"Don't strain yourself Miri," Charcoal said softly. He then leaned in and nuzzled the mare, holding Dinner Bell up to Miri's chin. "Let me go get the Doc," he said as he pulled away. He set Dinner Bell in Mirabelle's hooves and then walked out of the room. "Doc, she woke up."

The unicorn stood up and trotted over to Mirabelle, looking over a scan from the machine. "Welcome back Ma'am. I've got some good news; you're completely free of infection in your lungs."

Mirabelle grinned.

[Tytan]

Clock covered her face and tried to hide. "Ch-Charcoal left me." The floodgates opened and she started sobbing.

Charcoal grinned and hugged the doctor. "Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" he said excitedly. "You have no idea how much this means to me," he said, letting go, embarrassed.

[Orm]

Searchlight blinked unsure if he heard the mare correctly. "He left you?"

[Tytan]

Clock couldn't form words, but she nodded.

[CamoBadger]

"Um... yes, you're welcome," the unicorn replied and brushed off his chest. "However, you'll need some time to recover. Try not to run until your lungs heal, and I don't recommend inhaling anything hazardous anymore either."

Mira rolled her eyes. "One time," she grumbles but nods. "Got it, can I leave yet?" she asked hopefully.

"I would rather you stayed for the night, but that's up to you two. I don't get paid enough to force you to do anything."

[Orm]

"Clock, I'm sorry." He put a hoof on her shoulder trying to comfort her.

[XT Vengeance]

"Miri, I can get a room for us," Charcoal offered. "Or we can stay here. It's up to you," he said, nuzzling the mare.

[Tytan]

Clock didn't react, she just kept crying.

"I think I'd rather not sleep in a clinic," Mira agreed with a little grin.

The pony shrugged and trotted to a desk, returning with a pile of caps. "By the way, I priced that rifle. It was worth quite a bit, so here's some back."

"Worth every bit," Charcoal said with a grin.

He then put Dinner Bell on his back and led Miri downstairs to the lobby. He walked up to the counter. "Excuse me, I'd like to rent a room for us," Charcoal said to the pony.

"Alright, it's 100 caps each, per night," the mare replied.

"Great," Charcoal said, placing 200 caps on the counter.
