Charcoal nuzzled the foal, placing a kiss on her forehead. "She's just so cute, Miri," he said smiling broadly as he looked up at the mare.

"Yeah, she is," the mare agreed. "You look good holding her. Maybe you and that fiance of yours should consider one," she added with a smile.

Charcoal's expression went blank. "I...I don't think that will happen," he said quietly, all the while still rocking Dinner Bell back and forth gently in his hooves.

"I...it's...she tried to have a child before...it...it was stillborn," he said quietly. He then nuzzled the foal in his hooves gently to hide his worries.

"It's okay Miri," Charcoal said quietly. "I...I guess I'm worried that she won't ever want to have a foal. I...I don't know if I can live with that though," he added sadly.

Searchlight just stared at the two of them. The sight of Charcoal holding the baby made him remember the first time he held his daughter after she was born. He just stood at the doorway, lost in what memories he had of that day.
"Hey, Charcoal. Can I talk to you when you're done here?" He asked after coming back to his senses.

"I did. I just...I want to have kids, Miri. I'm just not sure that she will ever want to," he said quietly to the mare.

Searchlight stepped out of the doorway and sat against the wall in the next room.
He took the nearly empty bottle of whiskey of of his bag and began to drink.

"It means a lot to me that you want to stay," Charcoal replied with a warm smile. "I've go to go see what Searchlight wanted. I'll be right back," he said, gently giving Dinner Bell back to her mother.

When Clock went back inside she went in search of the Clinic. It took her a while, but she found it. She knocked on the door.

Searchlight but the bottle back in his bag as he looked at Charcoal. "I'm going to go look for the house I saw. I just felt like I had to tell someone in case the others wondered where I was."

Searchlight thought for a minute. He didn't want to bother anyone with this. But he was right, Manehattan obviously isn't as safe as he remembered it. "Alright, I guess I can tell Novae or Jayne where we're going."

"His name is Charcoal. He and his caravan were the victims of a raider attack. He was brought here afterwards for treatment. This would have been about eight or so years ago."
