Quiver deadpans.
"Won you. In a card game. So you were a slave of some sort?"

[Katarn]

"Correctomundo! I was..hmm...something around seven back then and dad, jayne, was hired guard at that slave camp. One thing lead to another and first he won all slaver's caps and then, when he bet me (and let me tell you, I worth much more, than he lost back then) against all those caps aaand Jayne won again..then...things went ugly. Correct word 'everyone start shooting at everyone'. So dad grabbed me, caps and fled. Been doing his house chores for almost two years."

[Ketchup]

"Well, it's certainly good that you aren't a slave now. Do you know anything about what happened to your genetic parents?"

[Katarn]

"Well, they sold me in first place, for good reason though. But I don't really care what happened to them."

[Ketchup]

Quiver frowns.
"Oh. Well if you think it was a good reason and you were the one sold, it must have been a really good reason."

[Katarn]

"Survival. I was oldest one. They sold me and could afford food and water for some time. This way my parents, two sisters and brother survived."
Sigh. "I know dad tried to find them and 'remind' that selling own foal is wrong thing to do even by his standards. Maybe he found them, maybe not." Novae said sourly.

[Ketchup]

"It's wrong, but if selling you allowed your siblings to survive, I'd say it must have been their only choice, but not the right one."

[Katarn]

"Eh, it's in the past. Been..."Frowned. "Something near fourteen or fifteen years. I doubt though you'd do somethin' like that."

[Ketchup]

"Thanks, Novae. I'm sorry for bringing it up. Bad memories and such."

[Katarn]

"Nah, it's nothing. I really liked this talk. Could you tell something about your home? I recon your life wasn't as 'exciting' as mine."

[Ketchup]

"Stable 16 was pretty boring. I was a medical assistant for Doc Forcep, though we didn't get many patients. From what I hear, Stables are supposed to have terminals, 16 had none, to my knowledge. I left to explore after I completed a voluntary scouting mission. Another apparently unusual thing about Stable 16 is that..." He spreads his wings. "There are pegasi living in it. But aside from that, pretty boring."

[Katarn]

"Yeah, flying is fun. I bet you were just flying around for few hours, after you left."
"Though it's strange..no terminals. How everything worked? Food, water, air. It work on talismans, yes..well, maybe except food. But talismans must be controlled somehow."

[Ketchup]

"I'm not sure how they were controlled. Searchlight, a ghoul, suggested that the maintenance staff and the Overmare had terminals to keep the place running."
He smiles.
"And yes, it was very nice to be flying in the open air."

[Katarn]

"First time I flew I nearly wet myself. Sure flying bullets only add 'excitement' to all this and the fact I was only seven. But it was fun in the end."

[Ketchup]

"It becomes something not-too-special when you can fly at will, though I'd imagine it is quite a feeling, flying while being fired at."

[Katarn]

"Lot's of dodge manurers, drops and sudden altitude gains."
"I wonder. Why are you exactly here. I've heard about ponies from other Stables showing up here and there from time to time. They either end up dead or worse. But in most case it wasn't their choice to be here. I hope you wasn't exiled or somethin'? I mean sure, scouting and such, maybe even trade, if you are lucky. But why stay here, where so much potentially deadly stuff could happen to you?"

[Ketchup]

"I'm allowed to come home whenever I wish, so I'm not exiled. I came out here to explore. There was nothing for me in the Stable, so I took the opportunity to explore the wasteland. Sure, it isn't as safe, but it certainly is more exciting."

[Katarn]

Brushes his mane again. "I hope you won't get yourself killed, because it's exciting."

[Ketchup]

"I'll try not to get killed, being dead isn't exciting. But if that's what will happen to me, you can have my PipBuck."

[Katarn]

Rolls eyes. "Riiight. Because go on, listen to whatever 'that crazy zebra' says."

[Ketchup]

"I don't think you're crazy, Novae. Different than most, but not crazy."

[Katarn]

"Well, that's new one. 'Different' I mean. I know I'm missing few screws in my temple."
"Thanks. For been nice."

[Ketchup]

"It costs nothing to be nice to others, but it has value all the same."

[Katarn]

Starts studying Quiver's eyes, head, body, wings. "Are you sure you're young buck, fresh from stable and not some old sage from some mountain or cave?"

[Ketchup]

Quiver chuckles.
"I'm pretty sure I'm the former, and I guess I'll take that as a compliment."

[Katarn]

"Quiver, mind if I ask you one stupid question?" Novae say with a smile.

[Ketchup]

"Not at all, Novae. Shoot away."

[Katarn]

"Where is your bow?" Grin.

[Ketchup]

Quiver chuckles again.
"I don't have one. I had one when I was little, though."

[Katarn]

"Oh. I just though. You are Quiver. You have arrows." Points at his cute mark. "So only question left - where is your bow."
"Though I saw other pegasi with crossbow. I think her name is Eve. She's nice."
