He can cook, but his survival is more focused on potions and herbs and stuff. He can't make those potions right now by the way.

Charcoal isn't the best at it, but he will be able to do that too. The cooking was more just something he was taught by his mom. Survival to me means being able to live off of the land. Like being able to scavenge medicinal herbs and such.
