Upon rewatching Star Trek (new one) on TV just now, I can't help but wonder a few things.

Why does Captain Pike have the frequencies to disable Earth's defenses? It's not like Naval captains have the ability to disable U.S. missile defenses. For that matter, why is there a magic button that turns off orbital defenses? Is there no one at those sites that could turn it back on if there were?

On the Generic Ice Planet (tm) why did Big Red Spider Thing chase Kirk after killing Big Grey Bear Thing? Big Grey Bear thing is already dead and has more meat on it than Kirk.

Why do the dudes get relatively practical (if pocket-deficient) pants, while the chicks all have to parade around in miniskirts and high-heeled knee-high boots?

1.) I am absolutely not asking too much when I ask for a plot that is actually coherent. Fiction is not a license for writers to create horrible breaches in logic rather than put some fucking effort into writing a story that makes sense.

2.) fuck the fantasies of either gender. Objectification is bullshit.

A agree with both of these, however actually taking time to fill every plot hole in a movie that has a limit of like 2 hours is impossible. Books and TV shows can do better at this, but movies get some slack because nobody will sit through 5 hours without a piss break even if every plot hole is filled.

On objectification in gender rolls is impossible to avoid in any media, so I ignore that for the most part.

Colorado as a whole is a great state, but yes Denver sucks.

I took a trip to Indianapolis a few years back and I gotta say I rather preferred it to my native Cincinnati. Indianapolis, at least the parts where I was, was rather clean and open, as opposed to Cinch, which just seems cramped and full of crap.

I wouldn't call it a 'little city' (at least to me). Place is packed to the brim with people, and it isn't exactly friendly their either. I hate it so much, which is why I moved as soon as I could.

I was just reading Wikipedia's article on Cincinatti and happened upon that map, and couldn't help but laugh at how obvious it is that the city has a shitty political situation just by looking at how the voting districts are set.

Cincinnati is fucking enormous, but it is pretty cramped. Go into downtown Cincy and you will know what I mean. I love the city because it has a rich culture and is a major industrial center, but I hate it because it's generally not very clean and not very safe. However they are trying to improve things.

My own city... The architecture is the one of a city which more than tripled in size in the span of sixty years, we have our fair share of poverty and crimes, and not only is the weather shitty we choke in our own pollution ;

But it's also the best city I could hope to live in, a land of opportunity, were fortune smile to those who know to seek it ; but also where those less lucky are not completely left behind.
