S3E08 Apple Family Reunion

Yet again this week the episode was leaked early on Itunes. You can buy it off there and watch it.
I watched it already and I like it. The pacing seems a little fast, but it's a good episode.

- i enjoyed seeing Babs again and the overall episode was really fantastic, its just the song that bugs me. its catchy, but for AJ's first song, its a bit weak

One Bad Apple and Sleepless in Ponyville remain my current favorites, this is above Crystal Empire and To Many Pinkies but it's going to be towards the end of my season 3 list.Orm wrote:Loved it.

My thoughts
- Spoiler:
Once again Applejack is best pony, her hangup is trying to make things to memorable and her slight obliviousness. Her mania for efficency and her competitive edge means she's trying to hard which I like it's in character for her. This is the pony after all who said "she can't go home a failure". I appreciated the little touches like Applejack going to Rarity for material or Pinkie for honey or RD for water.
The best part of this episode has to be the deadpan jokes. Granny Smiths little speech about Apple Sauce and not finding her teeth and Applejacks WTF face was fning hilarious. Appleblooms Wilhem scream, there were so many good jokes in this episode.
The song was meh for me because of it's highly repetitive nature.
TL:DR: Funniest episode of season, most jokes per minute best joke of the season.

That was an AMAZING episode! I don't think there was a single thing that wasn't good in that episode.

- Of course, the song was only alright, but alright is fine. Also, they seem to be pushing the "golden" ponies from the blindbags thing, but that's alright, because it's cool/funny.
Also, Granny Smith's aunt must be absolutely ancient.
And was that an APPLE.MOV reference when Applejack stuffed her mouth full of apples? Probably not, but it sure seemed like it was!
Barns seem to have a pretty short lifespan on this show.

-Pretty sure they made a Jaws reference at the beginning.
-Baby Applejack! HHHHHHHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG!!!
-Gold Applejack!
-Wet mane Applejack!!!!
-BABS!
-WTF obstacle course.
-Applejack.
-Liked the Fruit Bats, I was expecting something worse than that when AJ said she had something more exciting planned.
-The barn getting demolished.
-Applejack.
-Finally Applejack singing! I kind of liked the song.

I loved this episode!! It was amazing. But, I have a question, was that Octavia in the episode playing the violin? She had the same stance, cutie mark, and she played a violin!! :) So was that her?

Okay, that episode was pretty dang great. Obviously, Babs being there made it awesome, but the song was fantastic (in my opinion) and it was pretty awesome to finally have an AJ episode that isn't going to be all about 'OMG DERPY'.
Only thing that could have made it better was if we saw any parents...of anypony...ever...No Babs parents, still no AJ/AB/BM parents, foals arriving with grannies rather than ma and pa...implications unpleasant.

- She rescued them from a nearby torrent, as someone had thrown them in a bag there to get rid of them. As they where passing in front of her shack Fluttershy heard their cries and flew there, saw the bag, and rescued them.
She brought them to her home, dried them up, and they are currently napping in the slipper in front of the fireplace to not catch a cold.

- Thoughts on the Episode:
- 1) Well, AJ finally got an episode without getting upstaged in it, which is a good thing.
2) The gathering of supplies scene was nice, good that RD didn't disappear like some people "predicted". It's not like they can really separate them for long. Elements of Harmony require strong frinedship, duh.
3) We got tons of Apple family folks who rapidly changed numbers dependig on the scene, and Babs got back, yay!
4) AJ again trying too much to make things perfect, she never learns, that mare.
Crazy obstacle course and sewing machines with the power (and sound) of a jackhammer, sounds fun.
5) Lesson was learned and song was sung (which I really liked by the way, catchy), though I wonder how much bits it costs them when they have to rebuild the barn so often.
All in all, awesome episode, I'd put it on some list of favourites, if I had any, that is.

- Given what we saw on the photos and stuff and that we still haven't seen any parents (that matter) as it seems AJ's parents' generation is kinda missing, I say the Apples are not born, but grow on the apple trees.
The theory with the falling stars is... sad, yeah. And given that all of the Apple family was supposed to be present at the reunion I guess there's no way they're alive. Unless they're secret agents working undercover for years now and had to feign their dead to protect their family. Because that sounds like a completely rational assumption.
Nah, Too Many Pinkie Pies had a letter to Celestia too, but that's the only other I think. Crystal Empire didn't need it and neither did Magic Duel due to Celestia being in both in person. The rest? It could be that Octavia dyes her coat for high class functions or such. Kind of like how during the renaissance and for the next couple hundred years royalty and wealthy would put on absurd amounts of make-up to hide their skin colour.

- And Carrot Top. Maybe Octavia disguises herself to keep up her high-class image, while being able to attend these kind of events semi-incognito. Come to think of it though, the final photo is missing those characters. Maybe they're just visiting or assisting?
