Yeah, sorry about that guys. I was down south for the last 10 days at a wildfire and didn't have time to let anyone here know about it aside from "if I disappear just assume x".
but yeah, I'm back now. Leaving again on the 12th though and I'll be gone until the 27/28th for training.

Re: Fallout Equestria: All That Remains
Thanks guys, and sorry about the complete lack of anything on the chapter recently. Or just posting in general on this site, I haven't done that in a while either.
On another note: I will be trying to start on the next chapter tomorrow now that I've finally got time to actually do it.
I should also finish going through previous chapters to fix the crap that I told myself to fix. So yeah, maybe that first.

Camo, I want to hug you just to show you how much I missed having you around.
Maybe I'll ask a drawfriend to doodle Eos hugging Shayle or something. Ha.
Actually, yeah. Just in case I do ask for something along those lines, who would be hugging who? (as in, Shayle/Felix/Charmer x Crimson/Cherry/Eos and so on...)

Re: Fallout Equestria: All That Remains
Crimson would definitely be like "Com'ere Shayle" but Shayle would probably be very, very wary of him for: 1. being a guy 2. being a pony.
Cherry would be drawn straight to Felix however. I imagine Felix wouldn't mind Cherry giving him a motherly cuddle because he's less worried about being around ponies for one and he'd probably appreciate it in general anyway.
Charmer... now, she'd possibly look at Crimson and be reminded of Strike... perhaps. Can't say for sure of course, your characters and so you'd know better than me on this, but I figure the laid back attitudes and the general charm they both have going on (or had) is similar.
Again, I could be wrong, he could be nothing like Strike and that could be just that it has been so long since I read any of his content, but that's my wild guess either way.
So Charmer probably wouldn't want to hug Crimson.
...Now, she probably wouldn't mind Eos too much because of how those two can both connect on being very physically different to most others, albeit one is simply missing an eye while the other is an alicorn... but I reckon.

Re: Fallout Equestria: All That Remains
You're completely right about Felix, so I won't comment on that one.
Shayle you're also right on, but it wouldn't just be Crimson that made her wary or uncomfortable. She would be uncomfortable regardless of which one of those three hugged her because that's how she is with everyone that isn't Felix showing any kind of warmth or affection to her.
Charmer would actually find the most comfort from Crimson, even if it is from a bit of a superficial reason. Mostly it would be because he's a stallion actually showing some kind of care for her despite half of her face being burnt off. It wouldn't really have to be him, and it would be the same feeling regardless of who hugged her, but coming from Crimson it would mean the most to her personally.
So yeah.

Re: Fallout Equestria: All That Remains
Well I can tell ya, because she isn't a ghoul, Crimson would happily go straight to her and gently stroke her good cheek with a feather if she showed positive attitudes towards him.
That's something I've always felt about Crimson: He doesn't mind if you're missing limbs (or eyes), if you've been burnt, if you've got x y or z. He'll be there to comfort you.
It's only ghouls that he distrusts and you know why he distrusts them. The thought of somepony simply losing their mind and suddenly going from best of friends to a mindless monster like the ones he saw...
So yeah, if they ever met, Crimson would happily give Charmer a long hug. Hell, Crimson being Crimson I'm sure he'd even say she still looks beautiful on the unaffected side of her face and that any stallion that couldn't see past such an injury while living in a world as damaged as they do isn't the type of stallion who would treat her right in the first place.

So I may or may not have done something.
You may or may not have something to look forward to before you leave, or if you're unlucky in a sense, look forward to when you get back from training.
Just hope you enjoy it.

Swicked... I mean... Trixie took a hiatus from fallout equestria, to better appreciate its dark nuances with the palate-cleansing lunaverse. This was the best course of action, really, and now she is refreshed and ready to review All That Remains once more.
Trixie appreciates your patience in this matter; she knows her reviews are fantastic.
Please, hold your applause until the end of the performance.
- Chapter 12:
Truly, a dark omen...“Pinkie’s made a lot of predictions today but… ugh, what’s that smell?”Lunaverse Trixie is from New Oatleans. I wonder, is this a popular fanon location? Or has it been endorsed?Tinker groaned softly as we trotted by the decrepit sign, and I felt her move a little closer to me as we finally entered the city of New Oatleans.
And to clarify, I shall not further speak of Lunaverse after this, as I am a firm believer in the separation of pony fanfiction universes under the Treaties of Molestia and the Magna Equus Carta.
Veni, Lego, Obsessio!Felix: Um, Magistra? You see, the reason I don’t have my homework is... my sister made it into a small dog.It almost looked like a flower, but I didn’t exactly have anything to compare it to aside from the paper Shayle used to fold when we were younger.
Magistra: Really. What about the homework from last week, that she made into... what was it, again? A bird?
Felix: Well, after the dog caught the bird, it sort of ate the rest of my homework.
Magistra: ...right. Sigh... can you at least get the work to me by the end of the week?
Felix: Definitely. Could I get another copy of the textbook, though? See, a dog’s a big responsibility, so it needed a bed and a food bowl and......moss?The dirt and dust of the Wasteland had started to disappear, replaced by mud and even some sickly yellow-green spongy stuff growing out of countless puddles.
He doesn’t know what moss is?
Given it propagates via spores and inexplicably appears anywhere there is spoiled food, no matter how sealed the container is, I would expect he’d seen the stuff before. Molds are the cockroachs of flora.
Maybe the colors would be off, but the look and texture would be the same...What are they called again... Merkaps? Mewlocks? Mudkips?Wildlife, the dangerous kind,” the zebra snapped back at her before turning back around and continuing forward.
Rad-lobster men.
To be honest, given how much I love lobster (I could eat those giant bugs forever, yo), they are a wasteland creature I would likely try a bite of.
Bramen, of course. I’d avoid wild dog and be horrified by bloatfly, but lobster people just look delicious.
...probably one of my few disappointments about fallout: equestria; heroes don’t tend to eat their dead enemies, even when they’re perfectly delicious.
...and stop looking at me like that.
“I would be lying if I didn’t want the same right about then.” <-- lying if I said I didn’tIrony: covering your nose to block out bad scent and shoving the offensive stuff straight up your nose in the process.I figured out that part when I tried to cover my nostrils and got a big whiff of the putrid gunk covering my hoof that burned my nose and started a bout of coughing for a few seconds.
Amusement: achieved!Shayle: You threw up? Why?Luckily we didn’t need to worry about leaving her behind; Seer and Charmer stopped once the burned pony couldn’t handle the stench anymore and puked on the side of the walkway.
Charmer: You have no idea how bad it smelled. It was utterly horrible.
Shayle: ...you know how I escaped my village? By crawling through a sewer pipe for... um...
Felix: I was pretty sleepy, but... about a quarter mile, maybe?
Shayle: Yeah, that... distance. Fought a ghoul down there and got a more than a little centuries-old mixed pony waste splashed into my mouth for my trouble, and did I throw any of it back up? Heck no!
Charmer: x_x *vomits*
Shayle: See, now you’re just wasting food.
*later, at the café of broken dreams*
Blackjack: Wow. I mean, WOW, I’ve been eating centuries-old reprocessed pony waste my entire life, but taking it raw like that? I must bow to the master *bows*
Littlepip: *now a brilliant shade of green* Urp... why do... ugh... I eat here? It ALWAYS... urp... goes like this. *groans*
Blackjack: It’s probably all the witty repartee.
Shayle: Yeah! Whatever that means.Hmm... yes, I can see why ponies have been dying over this place. From where we were, I could see almost straight into the center of the city, but my vision was stopped by a curtain of swirling green-yellow gasses that curled up toward the sky, only making it a few meters off the surface of the water. Bridges of planks strapped over empty barrels spanned the canals between buildings. Some barely looked safe enough for someone as young as me or Tinker to cross without it breaking, while others already drifted in segments that had been broken by gunfights, or something much more horrifying.
It’s just so homely.Wasn’t there a south park episode about crab people? Back when I was bored-enough to watch south park. The show quickly started taking itself way too seriously, its creators using it as a social platform to express their idiotic views on crap they know next to nothing about... mostly because they don’t really care to know what they’re talking about. After all, they’re entertainers.“Hopefully you won’t have to learn that answer,” she answered quickly and started off across a low-lying bridge.
...bit of a tangent, but I don’t think people who are supposed to be crafting a form of entertainment should seed it with their half-baked ideas about how stuff should be to the point where it becomes less of a satire and more of a lecture.
HEY! I caught that eye roll. Stoppit.
Now I’m just going to sit here until you agree with me.
...
...okay, so, I just remembered this is a one-way medium. I shall now GENEROUSLY assume you share my incredibly-insightful thoughts and continue my review. Yes, I know, you are welcome.Intriguing...“She’s probably a pony, damn spurs,” ... ”Please, I not spy!” ... “A moment later, a stripeless body fell to the water”
No, wait, that’s not right.
Questionable...
“Pony” probably meaning “allied with ponies”, I assume this is some clan offshoot or something. One of the... darn it, that spy group. The scorpions? One of them had a pale face yet was not albino. Have we got a mixed breed?Ah, a that. Of course.“Because she is a Kupigala,” she answered. “A member of a very old and small tribe who have never had stripes.”
How foolish of me.
Also, the small, very old tribe has its own language? One that other zebra learn, if only for their curse words? Looking forward to the story behind that.Oy, that bites.Seer’s hooves plunged into the water and pulled the pony out. Her leg was still bleeding in a row where the snake’s teeth had broken her skin and blood streamed slowly down to her hoof. The zebra dragged her into the building and placed her carefully on her back. I didn’t see her breathing, I didn’t see her moving at all.
*hides under her desk*You were running across the planks quickly, hopefully lightly... this was the best solution.I galloped back onto the bridge and dropped my forelegs into the gap, hooking my hooves under her shoulders as my tail gripped around one of the ropes that ran alongside the planks. Why couldn’t I just slow down? Why couldn’t I have just listened to Tinker and maybe stopped this from happening at all?
Trinker was going more slowly, even if it was faster than she’d like, and she broke a plank.
Clearly, she should have run faster.
Also, I would like to know how you gripped with your tail.
I was not aware they were prehensile.
But then, what do I know about zebra, anyway?Well, snakes track by smell and heat, so I’d be willing to bet most predators are feasting on a bleeding-out giant snake likely still in its final death throws... not that that buys you much time.I wasn’t sure I could keep us going all the way there, and that was if a predator hadn’t heard the splashes and raced over to catch a quick meal.
Then again, everypony enjoys a little appetizer before their main meal...What a very odd way for a predator to treat prey, warning them so blatantly. I mean, playing with one’s food is hardly rare within the animal kingdom... most felines do and I know killer whales and some other mammals that do as well. Not any reptiles, though, to my knowledge. Maybe it’s just the radiation...A scaly head rose from the water a few meters from my hooves, and a pair of yellow eyes spun to look at us.
...a griffin. An interesting development, not even batting an eye at a zebra and a pony together. Not a merc, then? Looking for food in a war? What, does he eat ponies? If so, why not these two? Everyone appreciates good veal.
I mean, I don’t, but in theory, everyone does. Shut up.
Anyway, at the same time, pretty sure some eagles eat some snakes, so I wouldn’t be surprised of a griffin preying on those things. It’s always whiskey.“Oh, and don’t touch any whiskey you find, that’s mine,”
Always.
Why is there any other form of alcohol in the wasteland, anyway?...uh, what?a quiver full of assorted arrows and other devices.
Is he hawkeye? You are doing a very good job of confusing me repeatedly.I would rather not picture Xion and Seer on it, doing the thing that zebras did for fun sometimes. One can hope... it really all depends on how long she’s been doing this, and the strength of her conviction.I had asked myself that question many, many times in the past few days, but it seemed different this time. She was only with the Scorpions, and doing everything Xion said, because she wanted her family to be safe.
You can only do awful things for good reasons for so long before your soul becomes so withered that the reasons no longer matter. If she shoots enough foals, burns enough ponies alive, ruins enough lives... she’ll get to a point where she’ll be willing to do the same to her own family, absent any purpose but the order to do so.
I think she’s still sane-ish, since she’s got the presence of mind to want to protect Shayle. If she wants to do that for a zebra she barely knows, she’d certainly still do the same for her family, but if Minx isn’t saved from Xion she will inevitably be reduced that far.A rather faulty assuption, to be honest. I’m guessing Xion doesn’t really punish if the wrong pony is killed on the first try? That or they’re confident they can play off that anyone else flying the gunship must have been her apprentice.“She was doing something in the cockpit, running inspections most likely.” He rolled his eyes away from me and to the door.
...I kinda wonder if Xion is competent, to be honest. He hasn’t done anything impressive so far... one would hope he would live up to his hype.
“Was she really that big of a threat that they had to kill her when, as far as I knew, she hadn’t attacked any zebra towns or anything like that.” <--needs a question markMares and gentlecolts, I present to you the idiocy that is heroism!“Four years,” he told me plainly. “Almost died a lot more than three times.” Was he actually proud of how many times he almost died?
...at least, insofar as it’s commonly presented in stories like his grandpa no doubt told....this is starting to become an oddly-common phrase shared amongst multiple different characters...“Whatever helps you sleep at night,”Um, what’s her glyph mark? The mare casually removed everything she was wearing until her entire body was exposed. I instantly noticed how slender she was, almost as skinny as me except she actually had tone. I guess I had expected her to be a little bigger under the cloak she constantly wore, but that wasn’t the case. Her coat was marred from Caesar knows how many fights, but she didn’t seem to care. She just sat down and pulled out a book of all things, opened it to wherever she had left off, and started reading.
I could have sworn you were wondering that a while back...How long has she been with Xion’s group? And she still has this much honest emotion? Crying loud enough to be heard within the cave? She looked back at me again with a stern look in her eye, but her voice was still soft and regretful. “Yes.”
I have mixed feelings about her showing this much emotion. Solus is not truly her ally, after all, even if she feels no fear around Shayle.I remember saying this, and I think she feels this way on a deep level, but... this whole scene feels staged.“I want her to know I was a loving mother, not a killer.”
How many nights has she put on this play, showing her connection to her family is still so strong, stating she does not wish to go back to them, etc.? Does she think Xion would “tighten the screws”, as it were, if he felt their use as his bargaining chip was slipping? Would he stop leaving them alone and put them directly in danger just to redouble Minx’s loyalty?
I don’t like this being done around Solus. I could see her opening up to Shayle individually like this, playing up her emotions to ensure she noticed and was made to understand why Minx does what she does, just so that someone knows she’s not an evil loyalist, nor a would-be traitor, but a good zebra that “must” do bad things.
Maybe this is dual-purpose, to that effect. I don’t know.
I just know that keeping her false face when around Xion’s zebra’s is paramount... and I don’t feel any bond between her and Solus that would make her comfortable to open up like this.
So yeah, SHENANIGANS!!Heavy rainstorm? Likely somewhat closely packed to stay together.“Very upset, armed ponies,” he explained simply. “Maybe ten.” Oh good, only three times more of them than us. “Probably from Spur.”
One or two grenades would be beyond simple. Even a mine. They have to have something like that... the ponies literally wouldn’t even see it coming in this storm.
After that, picking them off would be foal’s play. That tears it, she’s connected who Shayle is with who she imagines her daughter to now be.She was… crying? For me?
What a crazy mare... I wonder when she first made that connection?
...actually, uh... hold the phone.
*Jeopardy theme*
Okay, went and did a text search on mom and mother and got nothing. I don’t think Shayle has ever talked about her.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say Minx hasn’t “replaced” her daughter at all.
What a twist!
...they’re using Hydra wrong. It’s a bunch of crazy mutant stem cells used to replace bones and flesh that no longer exist due to massive trauma. Stuff healing potions can’t cure due to the actual mass displaced.
Shayle has bullets in her... they’ve caused trauma, and she’s lost blood, but Hydra won’t fix that right. It has some capacity to mend torn flesh, but... gezz.
Chapter end... this was a weird one. Mixed feelings. The characterizations were all kinda offset from my expectations. Felix’s group made indeterminate progress and he met a random drunk griffin nobody’s bothering to shoot at in the middle of a warzone.
Shayle’s group kinda-sorta had the same issue, a bit of quality interaction that was, itself, questionable. Then a fight... how are those ponies tracking the zebra through a rainstorm? Where are they, exactly? Why do the ponies know where the zebra went, why didn’t Minx and Solus realize they were being followed, why was this battle necessary? Why, really, couldn’t Shayle of been told to just run away? The ponies wouldn’t have pursued her under sniper fire... they might make some potshots through the rainstorm, but really they were unlikely to of been able to make her out.
The action was decent... though, in both fights, the enemy/enemies were being massacred and only managed to seriously hurt one person before being taken out for good.
Overall, though, I don’t feel much progress. I know what Solus is, kinda, and Minx confirmed what Seer already told us... and we met a drunk griffin (but learned next to nothing about him).
I gotta be honest, this was my least-favorite chapter so far. Still pretty good, but it doesn’t feel necessary.
See, now I feel bad because I missed this during the 1 month period when I was either not looking at this forum or was out of town. Sorry swicked
Still, thanks for the review! I loved the little sketches
And you keep poking on things that nobody is supposed to pick up on yet! So yeah, you should stop that (mainly talking about the Minx thing. How dare you point out her odd behavior in opening up so much after how long she's been doing what she do). Of course I'm kidding, it made me smile while I read it, because I like when people think about a characters actions and behavior to figure them out. So thanks for that.
Sorry that you didn't enjoy it much, I hope later chapters are better for you.
And sorry again for taking WAY too long to reply to this.

Re: Fallout Equestria: All That Remains
Oh, and Ch.16 is about 2K words right now.
As usual, I'm convinced it sucks so far, and I'm extremely worried that I've lost the ability to write the characters after so long away (not that I did it well anyways). So, we'll see what happens. I'm hoping to get it out sometime next week, like really hoping to because I leave on the 13th and won't be able to do anything with it for 2 weeks after that.
If I don't get it out in time, I'm very sorry.
