Well, Nova spends a lot of his time as a traveling preformer. He could come across them and offer them space in the town. Helps you because it gives you entrance, and it helps me because of the past RP's "Nova must make up for his sins". Interested? ))

*In a town far south of New Hope, Nova stands on a stage, preforming magic tricks and trying to entertain with his unique brand of magic. After all, he has to get money to buy toasters somehow. The ponies around don't particularly seem to care, however, and move about there business.*

*Sighing to himself, he begins to close up - having made nothing today, when he sees something new. Two zebra's, one younger then the other, walk through the streets. They look battered and tired, dirty and starved. But worst of all, they look sad.*

"... H-hey! You two! Zebras! Come here!"

((That might be bad idea, to 'settle in' at 20 years mark, since our characters will leave town at that mark.
Also. I'll try to write down scene. Prepare for some crazy stuff and (potentially) 4th wall breaking ))

Her belly groaned, her body ached, and above all her mind was tearing itself apart.

Shayle had no idea that the real world could actually be as tough as the zebra who raised her described it, always assuming that he had been exaggerating to make her feel bad. But ever since she had dragged her brother from their settlement, every day they survived almost seemed like a miracle. Between their first run in with a raider and the few the followed, and the apparent lack of any food, their lives since leaving had been a constant fight just to survive.

Not to say it wasn't all for nothing. After all, Shayle proved to be a rather good shot with the revolver once she figured out how to use it (or after Felix showed her how, apparently Dad had taught him how to use it once), and whenever she happened to miss or get herself shot, Felix's time in school proved useful to prepare makeshift bandages and a weak painkiller.

All things considered, the two had learned quite a bit since leaving, about the real world, and especially about themselves.

They had entered a small village not too long ago, and were trotting around the shacks and makeshift stalls in an attempt to find a store or scavenger who may be willing to sell them some equipment with the few caps they did manage to gather. Oh, and a doctor, Felix said he wanted to visit a doctor to see if he could learn more stuff, which Shayle didn't mind considering whatever he did learn seemed to be used on HER more than anyone else they met.

A shout from across the square pulled the two zebras' attention to a pony who seems to be closing up a small stage. After shooting a look of questioning to each other, Shayle and Felix decide to give it a shot, and make their way over to the pony.


((I could not, for the life of me, remember who Nova is XD I really REALLY hope he's actually a pony and I didn't just derp))

"Well, uh, here's something you don't see everyday!" He smiles down at the Zebras. "Two young Zebras, alone and looking like they've been through Tartarus..." His eyes falls upon the older female Zebra, with a fire in her eyes that surprised him. He could tell they were siblings by the way they interacted with each other, and how similar they looked.

He just hoped he was right. "Well, there's no need to feel sad when-" He reaches behind Felix's ear, and pulls a bottle cap out. "-your a money maker!" He hands the cap to Felix. It's a pretty crappy joke, but his enthusiasm is downright contagious.

"How about something for the little lady, let's see..." With a flash of magic, all of his purple and black hair is standing straight up and smoking, as if he got struck by lightning. He looks ridiculous. "Whoops."

(( Essentially, my original character, Scyto, was very evil and nasty and essentially the main antagonist for a good chunk of the RP. He reformed, tried to do good, changed his name... and received severe brain-damage.

So now he's Nova, the crazy old (but not that old) pony. ))

Felix's eyes lit up at the trick, taking the cap in his hooves and staring back to the pony. He had never seen magic before, unless potions and medicines were considered magic, but ACTUAL magic was new to him. His eyes grew wide in anticipation, waiting for another trick.



A brief spurt of joy ran through Shayle as the stranger handed her brother a bottlecap he'd somehow gotten from behind his ear. However, it was matched up with skepticism. She appreciated the gesture, but didn't quite understand what the pony hoped to gain by just giving away a bottlecap like that.

The zebra turned her eyes back to the pony, regarding him with caution and curiosity. When a burst of magic messed up his mane however, the mare couldn't help but reel and giggle.

He blinks, happy with the reactions. "I, uh, I meant to do that."

Something flashes in his mind, something that he had almost forgotten over the years...

...One day, Scyto, you will have to make up for your sins. I do not know how, or when, or why, but you made a promise to do better, and that is what you will do...

"You two look like you haven't eaten in a while. How about I buy you some lunch? Ever had Pony Joe's famous Doughnuts?"

He thinks about it for a moment.

"Neither have I. But, I sure somepony must sell doughnuts around here!"

First a gifted bottlecap, and now he was offering to buy them lunch. Yes, Shayle was certain that something was up here, and she wasn't too certain she wanted to find out what the pony had in mind for the two zebras to pay him back.

"No, thank you. We're capable of getting our own food," she told him as kindly as she could manage, while still trying to sound stern about her decision. Her gut instantly began to rumble in protest, reminding her that they didn't have any food.



Felix instantly nudged Shayle in the ribs with a hoof after she turned down the nice pony's offer, looking up to her and motioning to the small bag hanging around his neck. The colt really hoped his sister would understand what he was trying to tell her; the two of them simply didn't have enough money to turn him down.



Seeing the look on her brother's face, Shayle sighed slightly. He kept nodding down toward their money bag for some reason, but she didn't really know why. Either that or he was motioning toward his own belly, just as empty as her own after going nearly an entire day without any food.

The zebra turned her head back to the magical pony, hesitantly saying, "Actually, we wouldn't mind a meal."

Minutes later....

"... close enough."

After having lead them around the small town, he found a stall proudly advertising - 'dough-disks'. He quickly purchases one for each of them, handing them off to the two siblings. But once Felix is busy digging in, he whispers to Shayle.

"Where are your parents? Are you two alone out here?"

Looking to her brother to ensure that he was busy with his treat, Shayle groaned and turned back to the strange pony.

"We're alone, our parents are dead," she whispered to him quickly before taking a small nibble from her own food.

A look of sadness crosses his face.

"You've been surviving out there on your own? For how long?"

He sits back, thinking for a while. No longer hungry, he splits his own 'dough-disk' in two and gives each of them half.

Maybe I could... no... the cave can't possible hold more then one pony, I'd have to move, sell all my experiments and inventions....

... make up for your sins...

He watches them eat for a while, before speaking.

"Listen... you have no reason to trust me but..."

He looks right into Shayle's eyes, hoping that by some luck that she would see his sincerity, "Why don't... Why don't you two come live with me? There's a town, north of here, that me and my friends founded. You'll never find a better place to live. Lot's of kids your age, a clinic, everything you could ask for."

He sighs, "I was just about to sell off my... my junk, and move into a bigger house anyways. Too much space for me alone to share."

He looks at them.

Do better.

"Food, shelter, friends, an education, protection... I can guarantee you all these things..."

The wacky pony holds out a hoof. His hair stands on end, still smoking from that last spell. He doesn't look like all of his nuts and bolts are screwed in right, his skinny and janky, as if he's less made out of joints and more made out of elbows.

But he looks at Shayle with pure honesty and sincerity.
