The room is full of a good 30-40 ponies, all wearing elaborate gowns, robes, and the like, and all talking in hushed whispers.

"They say Cousin Kazuki is back, which means she must have killed the Empress."

"Don't be absurd, neither of them would dare harm the other - they've always been close friends until now."

"If we're lucky, the Empress won't come back..."

"How dare you say that, she's the best leader we've have in centuries!"

Izumi clears her throat, and the room, as one, turns to look at the new arrivals.

Jaws drop.

*Lets out a sigh of relief when she sees most of them are fine, then starts looking over the crowd* Richi! *Runs over to him* Brother, you're safe!

[Scyto Harmony]

"K-Kazuki? By the Gods, I never thought I'd see you again!" He hugs her tight, "But-- you can't be here, if the Empress finds out..."

A couple of ponies around the room look uncomfortable, as the all silently watch the two.

*Hugs him back* Brother, Kasai is dead. You are the Emporer now.

If the room could have got quieter, it did.

"I... but... what?" He finally manages to babble. Finally, he takes a deep breath, putting on a professional face.

"Alas, it is always a tragedy to see a love on lost to us. But her time is at an end, and the rule of the Japonese nation must continue." He turns the the crowd, "I apologise, close friends and dear family, I must ask you to make your way back to your palaces and mansions - I have much to discuss with my dear sister here." He bows graciously, and motions to some Guards.

The Guards look at eachother half-confused, before ushering the crowd out.

"We must speak privately," He whispers of the general discomfortable murmur of the crowd, "Perhaps in the throne room?"

As they step in, he closes the door behind them. "Phew... Man... me as Emperor..." He looks at Kazuki, "But, everyone was expecting you to take the throne after Kasai, considering how the whole rebellion was in your name.

In my name, but not started by me... It was kinda against the whole ideals I try to govern by, you know...

He sighs, "Well, I'd gladly give rule over to you if you asked for it." He looks at Izumi, "Ah, Izumi, long time no see."

"Likewise."

He rubs his chin, "Hm... I suppose your foreign friends will need a way home?"

Yes, I was hoping to arrange something for the ones that brought down that... Monster.

"I am afraid that will have to wait." He starts pacing, "With Kasai being away, the NCR has taken the advantage to completely seize the northern and western islands - we're nigh surrounded."

"We're lucky that they seem not to have any reinforcements, but with the troops they have now this conflict could go on for months unless the General is taken out."

Well, they're probably not receiving reinforcements because they are no longer part of the NCR. Kasai started this war via centrifuge, and President Gawd apparently did not know the true story.

He rubs his eyes, "Ugh, this is all so much to be placed on my shoulders at once. Everything must be organized. Please, come find me tomorrow morning, I shall have a plan.
