ANNOUNCEMENT: THE ROLEPLAY CHATBOX

Okay, so for a few weeks now we have seen a bit of an issue involving Roleplaying in the chatbox on the front page. I have fixed the issue (hopefully), and added a new chatbox to our site for roleplay ONLY!

That means what? That's right, NO, and I mean NOT ANY, roleplay will happen in the main chatbox. It is now to be used for non-RP discussions. On the other side of the coin, the RP box is not for random discussion, it is for Roleplay only.


Please, for the love of celestia, behave in the Roleplay box. Don't post anything illegal, and don't use it to hide from the admins or mods. It is set up with my personal email and I paid out of pocket for the darn thing to be set up, so don't make me regret doing that. If it is abused, I will shut that thing down faster than you can blink, unless proof is presented that only 1 or 2 people caused an issue, in which case I will only punish them.
On that note, the rules there will be mostly the same as on the site itself. Try to keep the language to a reasonable level (no, "my character just likes swearing" is not an acceptable loophole), no personal attacks against someone unless it is part of the RP, and don't spam (not sure why you would need to in RP, but I'm still pointing it out).

I would just like to say thanks for implementing changes/adding new stuff, both recommended by the folk that use the forum, and ones you've noticed yourselves. You're awesome. You're all awesome <3 .

Because of an issue which has arisen, I am afraid I'll have to crack down on who uses the roleplay box. For those who are already registered on the chatbox, you are fine.
Everyone else who wishes to join in on posting:

You are now required to be logged into the chatbox in order to post. That means you must register your name with the box. However, to prevent any unwanted posters (they know who I'm talking about) only I have the power to allow access to users.
If you wish to use the box, PM me (I don't think I have to say it, but I will: Do not post this information here) with your requested username and (unfortunately) a password you wish to use. (I swear on the life of my first born that I will only use it to register you and never keep any record of any kind)

I understand this is incredibly invasive and will be very inconvenient, but it is the only way I can think of to stop our current troll issue. Again, I am very sorry to have to resort to this, and I understand if I am to be disliked for it.


As an added procaution, May will be serving as a moderator in the box in case of any slip ups.

As those in the box already know, today has proved to piss me off regarding the RP Box. So, here are the new changes:

1) That box is no longer linked to Cloudsville in any way except for the link being posted here. If you fuck up there, you get punished there and only there. If you screw up here, you are uneffected in the chatbox.

2) No more off topic unless it is 1 or 2 posts to clarify something a character did, or the common courtesies of saying "good morning" or "good night". That's it. No more conversations off topic. Take it somewhere else.

3) You all have severely angered me with the box. I made it quite clear when we got the RP box that I paid out of my damn pocket to make the thing enjoyable for you all, and I set very simple rules to follow, which are being broken on what seems like an almost daily basis.
If I get one more report of an argument in there that isn't between two characters, one more complaint about someone's behavior in there, or one more report about any off-topic conversation, I will be shutting down the RP box permanently.

This is your absolute last chance RPers.

So apparently, some of you don't seem to understand what Off Topic means, so let me define it:
POSTING PORN IS OFF TOPIC! I don't know who thought it was okay, but obviously my warning wasn't enough. I'm shutting down the RP box for a day or two until either I think I should give you all another chance, or I'm convinced that the users have learned and won't be doing this kind of thing again.

From what I was told, this happened almost a month ago. I wish somebody had told me then, because then this would have been dealt with already, but that places this event only a week or two after I warned you all about off topic stuff there.

So not only did this happen, but nobody reported it until just now. So either you all didn't tell me because you knew I would shut the box down, or you didn't even think to tell me that I basically facilitated the sharing of porn with under-aged peoples by providing that chatbox.

To say the only people that RP is Verb, Frost, Moony, Sky, sometimes Comet, and Rare with Noir but to ban people for porn is wrong when if any "clop RP" happens then we warn people ahead of time we havent posted ANY links to sexual content of any sorts so there is no reason we should have been banned.

I didn't pick and choose who I thought posted it, I banned everybody because it was the quickest and most efficient way to get the box shut down. I don't care if it doesn't seem 'fair' that you aren't allowed to RP for one night until this is dealt with, I'm pissed off right now. Convince me that I'm wrong and that you can be trusted to behave, and I'll open the box again. If you can't, then we'll just have to see if I've calmed down by tomorrow morning.

And take it to another site if you want, I honestly don't care, but the rules of this site are very clear, no pornographic material of any kind is to be posted in links. I know the RPbox isn't connected to Cloudsville, but the rules I did set for it ban off topic, posting porn links is off topic.
If you want to RP sex in that box and you warn people ahead of time, fine. I'd rather you faded to black or took it to PM's, but I honestly don't feel like watching the RP box 24/7 to make sure that is followed.
If that little rule is too hard for you to follow, then go somewhere else, because I'm tired of dealing with this.

...well that settles it. Either waste your time warning people before you do RP sex or just take the easy way and make another RP chatbox for that. Well I need to do homework anyway so it doesn't matter to me. See you guys tomorrow... probably here. Or not.

While I do not believe I had been a part of that, I understand both why it concerns you so, and why this course of actions was taken. If I am not mistaken, you are paying for the chatbox you so kindly brought to us, and I am more grateful for that than you can know. I apologize on behalf of all of us who use the RP chatbox, (excluding those who aren't sorry and those who wish to apologize themselves,) and promise to, in the future, be more concious of such infringements upon the rules so clearly stated above. Thank you for your concern.

Alright everyone, the box is open yet again. Give it 15 minutes from now before you freak out, and if you still can't post we'll need to reset the accounts like last time.


New rules:
- OOC chat is now allowed so long as it stays appropriate.
Caveat: There is to be no arguing, hating on other members, flaming, trolling, spamming, etc. This is you one warning. If I am told about any of this and am given an screenshot or other adequate proof of the action, it will result in a 24 hour ban without argument.

- Under no circumstance is there to be any kind of sexual content in the RP box, including sexual interaction between characters. Fade to black in the box and take it to PM if you want, but it isn't allowed anywhere in the chatbox.
