Re: PH fan art thread
Did anyone else notice that Littlepip has a burn or scar on/over her cutie mark? I've never seen it in fanart though she was burned by something there.

I'd tend to imagine a humanized BlackJack at this point to look more like this :

If I'd be tempted to convert, I think I'd try to stay as biological as can be for as long as I can.
The only mechanics I'd trust would be the one which can be seamlessly integrated into the organism and would need no external power source or any kind of maintenance.
BIO-technology.

By Heretic of Dune.
I don't recall seeing this before.

Re: PH fan art thread
I'm thinking about starting to draw humanized ponies as well.
I was afk for half a year pretty much and said "sod this" to trying to draw ponies. It just eludes me how to draw mlp characters at all. I deleted like 20 drawings of ponies cause of how bad they were.
My questions is what scene from project horizons do you think I should draw? Keep in mind they will be humanized and as such how do you think the ponies would look humanized?

Re: PH fan art thread
Image human in same place.
As for scene..try something..simple for start. I don't know what would be easier for you - some scene from story, so you will know what to draw or general direction, so you can use your imagination.
Just try draw BJ in her armor with weapons.

Protip : they're full of shit.
Not saying that it isn't possible these things will be available around these dates [1], just take everything they say with a whole salt shaker worth of grainsalt ; because they are, for all intent and purpose, a Cult (who worship "science" and the supremacy of "logic", but a cult nonetheless).
[1] even if most probably they will still be in their infancy and only available to the wealthy

Re: PH fan art thread
Not really. We're already on the borderline of true cybernetics as it is and we already have some prosthetics that can function as well or better than organic limbs to the point that people are trying to ban amputees from the olympics and such. They're already working on cybernetics eyes and will probably succeed in a alpha version in the next five years. We already have pacemakers and the like. It's more of a problem that we don't know how to tamper with the cerebral cortex without leaving a person paralyzed.Harmony Ltd. wrote:You probably heard it from Singulitarians.stringtheory wrote:I've heard that by 2030 bionics/cybernetics will be as common as cosmetic surgery is today, and then there's the 2045 immortality project...Harmony Ltd. wrote:If I'd be tempted to convert, I think I'd try to stay as biological as can be for as long as I can.

What is likely to happen is people are going to keep going, "nah we'll never ever even in one million AD have cybernetics", but prosthetic technology is keeping on advancing regardless of what people think about it. It'll probably start out small like artificial simple organs like bladder or such, then prosthetic limbs will be able to be given touch and such, the more complex organs. Then as time goes on they'll get cheaper and better until they cross over into "cybernetics".
The reason why they say 2030 for widespread cybernetics is because in the next ten years we're looking at new artificial parts and organs for those who lost theirs, but it's going to be really clunky and finicky. Like how pacemakers were back when they were first invented, but they'll get better and better until they cross over into scifi.
Personally I say 2020 when we start seeing the prototypes and beginnings of the cybernetics really roll out, BUT personally I'm going to wait until 2030 until I go cyborg cause I don't want to have organs that are the windows ME equivalent.
To use a analogy think of today's prosthetics as windows 1, 2020 we'll have windows 2000, 2030 we'll have windows 7.
Also to finish up people said the same thing about personal computers back in the 1970's, "oh this will never catch on", "the people saying we'll have personal computers more powerful than the super computers we have(during that time) are a bunch of cultists", "they're full of shit"

Re: PH fan art thread
I'm not saying it's impossible, or that we won't see it in a relatively short timeframe (personally I'd say a generation and a half, roughly 25-30 years for widespread use).
What I'm saying is that even if I agree with them on a lot of purely technological topics, I have a heavy distrust of their movement.
I have no problem with technology. Hell, I'm studying in a field which first practical applications is cybernetics (embedded systems), and the project the team I'm part of is currently working on has as a goal to render buildings "intelligent".
My problem with them is that all I've been able to see of them indicate that they truly believe that ALL of Mankind's problem can be solved through technology. I disagree.
Also, it doesn't help that a lot of Singulitarians seems to wait for AIs to rapture them like a Messiah to Techno-Heaven, like a literal Deus Ex Machina. This unnerve me. Greatly.
