I agree with the Japanese guy, tho'.

Y'a can't just make it big and slap the biggest gun on it and call it a day. The Japanese robots loks cooler and more functional than the American one.


But it's pretty much accurate to the countries (giant) robot culture stereotypes in term of aesthetics:

- America: Big, ugly, rusty, seemingly rugged and purely utilitarian design lacking in grace, compensating with the biggest amount of firepower possible.
- Japan: Also big, but looking brand new and futuristic, compensate what it lacks in raw firepower with grace and agility.

Basically, for people who plays Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth, I headcanon America as Purity, and Japan as Supremacy.

Anyone here played Dungeon Crawl at all? I'm not usually the type for Rougelikes, but it's got excellent graphics for the genre (that is, 8-bit) and deep playstyle, ability, and gameplay possibilities. It's not exactly plot or character-heavy (The character is given a name but neither they nor any of the gods get an official gender, and the official plot is "go get the Orb of Zot from the bottom of the dungeon") but if you like a metric assload of playable races, classes, and gods to worship (each with their own abilities and blessings granted) then it might be right up the alley of anyone who likes turn-based gameplay.

Yeah, I've played that a bit. Think the furthest I ever got was the Labyrinth or something, and the minotaur fucked me up. It's a very punishing game, as befits a roguelike, I suppose. Loved the permutations available. Tales of Maj'Eyyal is similar - slightly better graphics, more character customization in terms of abilities (but less in terms of species, and you have to unlock stuff through playing which is kind of whatever), less difficult IMO (the way I've died in that, every time, has been overconfidence inspired by annihilating everything up to that point).
