And yet it get's knocked out in it's first battle in a new region every single time, usually by the newest rival who, usually, is a trainer who has barely started their own journey seeing how they're going around collecting badges as well.

Though personally, I'm still more annoyed that Ash is still 10 years old, even though he turned 10 before getting Pickachu and I know for a fact there was an episode he celebrated having Pickachu for over a year.

Ugh, don't get me started on the show. Two things that bug me the most is Ash's blatant stupidity, and Pikachu's fluctuating power. At one point (s)he beats a rock type by zapping its horn, in another point in time far later, a simple shell can block thunder. Wat indeed.

Yeah the show is flawed as all hell, but it's to be expected for a show that's been running as long as it has, continues to be aimed directly at kids, and Ash is suppose to represent the every day average joe and meant to show off the new region and pokemon.

Yeah it's annoying how they rarely have him learn anything, but he's established and they don't have to go through the process of making a new main character to follow around, his traveling companions aside.

Still, the show does throw you some curve balls. Like having Team Rocket actually be competent by keeping them the hell away from Ash.

Hypothesis: Ash is that universe's Idiot Ball. The closer you get to him, the more moronic you become.

Also, been reading more fic. Gone through most of the HiE, now going through others. Liking Night's Favored Child right now.

It was a Krabby, but you're still right. A lot of Ash's pokemon tend to be he came across them, tried to catch them but failed, episode plot happened, they decide to join him after he proved himself.

Bulbasaur did make Ash fight it first before allowing itself to be caught, but was still a case of "You've proven to be a good person, I'll join you."

Then again, if things went the way I imagined, psychics would be OP. Dodge via teleport spam. If you can't attack directly with psychic, use TK to throw things at the opponent.

Remembered a chat with sisters about if we ever were sucked into that universe without debilitating stupidity tacked on. My sister and her martial artist Breloom so she can get him to beat things up, and me and Gardevoir, for reasons above.

Outside of traveling companions popping up again after they left, I think Richie and Todd Snap are the only characters to show up over multiple seasons. If you're lucky the opening theme song may show off a few trainers Ash has fought against, but that's about it.

Well, you seem to have resolved the issue, making it a perfect time for me to interject advice when it's completely useless. You just sort of have to force yourself. Sit yourself down, disconnect the internet, put on some ambient music and start writing. One more line, one more page, one more chapter, until you're done (or at least, done for today). Two things that always helped me write was in creating a plan for the work, outlining individual scenes and characters beforehand to ensure that you aren't left 20k in with nowhere to go. At the same time, try not to think of it as a huge massive work. You'll end up psyching yourself out and losing initiative long before the first characters hit the page.

Of course, I'm pretty much the worst person to give advice, since I have a shitton of works and pieces which I have yet to finish (including a ponyfic which has thus far taken three years to get near completing a single chapter).

I appreciate the advice. Now, I have some for you. The people who screw up the most and know why are sometimes the best people to give advice, simply because they know what doesn't work. In other words, your advice is indeed valuable. Anyway, I sorta know what it's like to get deep into a story with nowhere to go. I got 40K+ words into the rough draft of my FoE fic, and still didn't have an overall plot planned out. It was just side-quests.

Okay, technically that wasn't advice. Words, stuff, thought-thinkery. Blargh.

Well I'm a god damn  genius. Wednesday I drove to college without my wallet and thus couldn't pay to eat lunch. Today I remembered to grab my wallet, but I have no cash and apparently didn't put my debit card back last time I used it.
