I believe it is. They've put in code to transfer characters automatically or something. Some balancing changes will not apply to non-new characters, but wipes won't be needed.

Heh, pretty much have my character finished with her build, which is the following:
Imperium Armor[Human] with Imperium Armor[Floran] appearance
Survival Backpack with Lantern appearance
Diamond drill
Legendary Water Sword
Butterfly Boost
Mech Suit

Just need to find ingredients for Apple Pie as well as the recipe, a good sniper rifle, instruments, and a wardrobe.

Don't make the Distress Signal until you're geared up. (Full iron for armor, I think, and make sure you have a bow)

Make a birdlady, they best.

Then go ahead and start mining a shitload of materials.
Try to find a hammer in one of the lootboxes, they're fucking ridiculous.
And what Scyto said. Do NOT build the signal until you have the full Tier I class armor set and build a bow. Otherwise you're going to have a bad day. Also, make lots of bandages by cutting down the hanging vines to get plant-fiber.

Also, don't put the beacon near your house or encampment, if you've made one.

Heh, you could play with one of us, Aonee usually puts up a server if enough are interested that day.
On tips, If you are above ground or slightly underground you can dig out the background and warp out from your position.

I found out the hard way that there are meteors in this game, because a big ol' ass one just came down right on top of me and splodered me all over the ground.

One time my starter planet had acid rain. That was unfortunate.

One of my characters had a spawn in the middle of a base. Got shot to death as soon as I warped in. Had to get another character to clean the base first.

I was carrying around a beacon, idly wondering if I should try and tackle Penguin Whatshisface without getting armour when comets started falling from the sky. Grinch grin. Put it down on a hill, ran for a small cave and waited. He almost blasted right to me before he exploded into a million pieces. When the meteors stopped falling I crawled back out for the rewards. Stupid penguin.
