Yeah it's pretty much that I don't equate the word couple to mean two when not applied to say, a married couple or a dating couple, and just as a synonym to " a few" since that's what everybody else tends to use it for.
Kinda like how the word literally and irony are misused all the time to the point it's rare to see them used for their intended meanings.

I don't see much hate in the UK. There's one guy who likes to take pot-shots at me liking ponies, but at the same time he's your stereotypical overly aggressive Christian who preaches about every little thing possible and being a right cunt about it while thinking he's doing the good thing.
Other than that, I think it helps a lot that the UK has a lot less of the annoying bronies. You know, the ones who wear merch EVERYWHERE and do the whole 'brohoof' thing to strangers they see in merch.
There's of course the odd person who will take the chance to try rip on someone for it, but at least for me, most people are accepting. They know it's just a show at the end of the day and that end of the day, we all have things we enjoy and their opinion on the show isn't going to change my opinion unless they can pull a deus ex machina out of their ass and somehow convince me that they're right - but nobody actually tries that aside from one, perhaps two idiots like previously mentioned.

I can't really tell about how bronies are treated in Ukraine, since I'm not involved in local community.
As for me, I'm not really open about been a brony. My friends know though and they okay/whatever about it. Sometimes even send me good or funny mlp-related pics, but that's rare occasion.

I uh ...I brohoof strangers in brony clothes if I happen to be wearing brony clothes, which is probably like 1/4 of the time. Am I... am I part of the problem?Kippershy wrote:

In all seriousness, though, I think I've only ever met one guy like that, but he was just always a bouncing off the walls in your face kind of person, if he wasn't a brony it just would have been something else. I was friendly with him, but we didn't hang out much.
When I went to see Equestria Girls in theatres (for my little sister of course ) I was pleasantly surprised how well behaved the bronies were, especially considering there were about 150 people there and half were bronies. Even when the film cut out in the middle for like ten minutes, they just played brony music on their phones and sat around for the most part. Ok one guy galloped up and down the stairs but that wasn't so bad.
Also the guy that was galloping was a pretty big guy, upwards and outwards, and he was there with the shortest, most perfectly proportioned, little person I had ever seen. He was maybe three feet tall and had a high pitched voice, and afterwards in the hall they were debating something about the Crystal Empire and it was awesome.
I think I started to ramble off a little bit there, but my point was I haven't really met any super annoying bronies in real life before, I've only heard about them, mostly on the internet. I'm either really lucky or, as I prefer to think, there are far less annoying bronies out there than the internet would have you believe.

Hold on. . Most of the hatred bronies get on the internet is the generic, "something is new so I must hate it" kneejerk reaction. Since the internet has become just a daily fact of our lives it's the "cool" thing to hate new things. Haven't you ever noticed by how try-hards always try to prove how "edgy" they are on the internet?swicked wrote:How are bronies accepted outside the USA? Especially anywhere LGBT (or LGBTQ) is better accepted?
I've long assumed a lot of the brony hate comes from homophobia and the like. Every time I see someone post that bronies are sick freaks for liking a show for little girls, I mentally extend their argument to "What's next? Them liking other girly things? Them thinking they ARE girls?! Not on my watch!"
Some hate may stem from bad experiences with brony trolls, but I don't see that as an adequate reason to hate anyone and everyone associated with the fandom. Like this one military guy I met who thinks gays shouldn't be in the military because he once knew a really obnoxious jerk who was one, they're just using the experience as an excuse.
So yeah, is it better in other, more LGBT-tolerant nations?
It doesn't have anything to do with homophobia.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
What, why is "faggot" and "gay" considered a insult. The two definitions for gay is either a happy person or a homosexual. The two definitions for "faggot" is a cigarette and a homosexual person. So by calling someone a "faggot" you're not actually insulting them you're calling them either happy, a cigarette, or a homosexual person.Tytan wrote:

While calling someone a "faggot" can be insulting if you're intending to call them gay, but the thing is the people who use this term are either using it in a general sense of:
So in reality calling someone a fag either means you're calling them:
1)A happy person
2)A cigarette.
3)A extremely annoying inconsiderate person
4)A gay person.
The problem with number four though is that this insult started out by people who don't actually understand how human sexuality works other than penis goes in whole. No seriously, almost every homophobe I know of either doesn't know anything about how sexuality works or they're paranoid of homosexuality in a extremely stupid manner. A recent poll on gallup found that homophobes are afraid that gay people will flirt with them. Which is kind of stupid when you think about it, cause the entire basis for the insult of calling someone gay is that they're afraid of someone flirting with them so they'll act like a total dillweed cause of it.
Tl:dr; Calling someone gay isn't actually insulting when you think about it and the insult " fag " is only really insulting if you're calling them a annoying inconsiderate person.

No, the reason people get upset when called gay or a faggot. Is the tone in which it is said and the context of the sentence.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
It's a insult that doesn't actually make sense when you think about it though. I could randomly come up with a insult of calling someone a wallaby with all the context and connotation of it being a insult, but in reality it's doesn't actually make sense. I could get millions of people to start using the word "wallaby" as a insult to other people, would it make any sense in reality though?Guarddogjr wrote:No, the reason people get upset when called gay or a faggot. My point is yeah there's a underlying connotation, but it doesn't make any logical sense when you think about it though.

But that's the point of an insult, CB. It's used in anger to Piss off or make someone upset. A verbal slap in the face. People don'tthink about it because if I say "quit being a Fucking faggot." I know it'll make that person upset because iwas saying it in anger. It's the anger that upsets people not the meaning.

I have to agree with this. Frost, Grimm, my other friends and myself throw stuff like this at each other all the time, but it's never said in anger. It's always jovial.Guarddogjr wrote:But that's the point of an insult, CB. It's used in anger to Piss off or make someone upset. A verbal slap in the face. It does though. About 65% of the reaction is from the "But that's a girl thing. You must be gay" initial reaction. The other 35% is from encountering the awful overzealous bandwagon folks.cb5 wrote:Hold on. . - 'long post:
- I know. Insults only work if someone doesn't go around poking logical holes in the insult. If logical holes get poked in the insults then it still works if the person insulting another person is too stupid to comprehend it. Haven't you ever wondered why homophobes, that weren't brought up in a homophobic environment, are generally stupid? Cause they're too stupid to understand the logical flaws in their insults.
Homophobes fall into two categories:
1)Brought up that way, or taught that way.
2)They're just stupid.
Same with racism and sexism. It's why I don't hate homophobes, racists or sexist cause according to a study by Brock University in Ontario there's a massive correlation between low intelligence and that.
That's not saying, "people with low IQ's are homophobic and that" or saying that if someone has a mental handicap they are, rather it's saying that such things in all probability are caused by a person not knowing better cause they were never given a oppurtunity to mentally grow and learn about different opinions and information that opposes their own viewpoints.
If a person is raised to believe such things and never given the oppurtunity to mentally grow as a individual to "keep their kids away from them gay agenda" what do you think is going to happen?
The best thing that society can do to change intolerance is to require schools to teach about the subjects in school. Like to prevent homophobia in new generations make it requirement for schools in sex education classes to teach about glbt, or for preventing racism teach about racial conflicts in the past(like the civil rights movement, the civil war, and all that) in history classes, and to prevent sexism teach about how women aren't baby factories in a class that teaches about how society's function. Then have questions about said topics in the SAT and ACT so that if schools want to continue to receive funding they HAVE to teach it.
I don't hate intolerance or insults by people who are intolerant cause they were in all probability force fed a extremely microscopic view of the world and all the knowledge they were given as a child was a extremely narrow view of the world. By that I mean let's say a person grew up in a homophobic household, do you really think the person's parents would ever want their child to learn anything about glbt other than what they want and any information other than what they agree with?
To let these insults get under your skin is pointless, cause they were brought up with a extremely narrow view of the world and never taught to try to better themselves personally and instead grow to be belief wise clones of whoever taught them it.
Let's say you have a homophobic neighbor, now let's say you have another neighbor who is gay, however he is not stereotypical. Do you think the homophobic neighbor would want their kids to ever talk to the gay neighbor for fear of their kids being, "losing their moral beliefs to the homosexual agenda"?
Tl:dr; What I'm getting at is that I don't hate homophobes, racists, or sexists nor do I let them get under my skin cause they were never taught better and that the best thing society can do is make it a requirement for schools to talk about it so as to help prevent future generations from letting the cycle continue without end.
I know mark twain's quote about prejudice was about travel, but the same effect can be learned through knowledge as well:- image:
