I'm betting you'd have signed up for showering with women at benning, but I'm guessing that class is full the second it's offered.Mister Frost wrote:I'm studying Punitive Exercises, Ironing Uniforms, Getting Screamed At and minoring in Showering With Dudes at Benning.

Most of my classes are in the morning, so I'll be done by like one, and tomorrow it's Principals of Accounting 1 and Marco Economics so classes that actually matter. Then Tuesdays and Thursdays are English and History.swicked wrote:

I'll just leave this here.
My classes start tomorrow, too. Gothic fiction is one of them. I am taking it at night in a building filled with skeletons and ancient objects (AKA the antro building).

It's hilarious when she figures that out.
She confronts her brother-cousin about it and all he can say is "...I'm sorry?"

I've been trying to catch episodes of Sword Art, but for some reason I'm not as willing to stay up as late as I use to.
I wish they'd put Toonami up at least one hour. Starting it at 11 PM EST rather than midnight.
Only episodes I can say I've actually seen was where the main character was labeled a "beater" for being a beta tester and a cheater, and the one where he helped that one girl revive her familiar while also using her to catch a group of player killers.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
There's something about Japanese culture where people generally don't move too far away from home as they grow up so the trope of "previous childhood friend of the opposite gender who I haven't seen in a while is attractive now" is one of the ideal romances that can happen. Kinda like if instead of being highschool sweethearts the typical girl next door was a good friend in elementary school and you didn't see her until college or something like that.
I think I lost my point if I had one... I guess I'm saying that since families don't spread out much, cousin getting together isn't as taboo due to lack of options but if given the choice they'd rather go out with a childhood friend that wasn't related?

It's cause of cultural differences and that other countries aren't weirded out by incest. Â It's extremely common in the middle east and arab countries as well as india, oh boy is that everywhere, not to mention that one in five americans have been approached by a family member for sexual relations. Â To middle eastern and asian countries they think we're weird that we think it's weird.swicked wrote:...yeah, I'm gonna need you to source that.cb5 wrote:Random fact: Â The most common marriage in the world is between cousins.
I could go on about massive cultural differences between western nations and such.
Like did you know in asian countries they don't just have two genders? Â Like in countries like Taiwan they have a gender for biologically male adults who identify as female and it's so common they have pageants and such.
In Japan cat is a delicasy.
China they eat human fetuses with soup.
In japan the legal age is 14. Â Now you know why there's so much f***ed up stuff in anime.
Also the reason why japanese porn only has the genitals censored is that it's viewed as a-okay for porn even in public, but indecent to show genitels.
To other countries it's weird to them that the usa has so much violence on tv, but is anti-porn, and so pro-guns.

Wait, no I was semi wrong. That marriage between people less related that first or second cousins is LESS common, as well as marriage between familial relations that are NOT cousins, however uncommon those might be compared to the former two.
I know cultures vary greatly, thankyouverymuch.

@Swicked
I mean, he's not necessarily wrong. It just depends on how specific you get with the other categories of marriage. Like, if it's just cousin marriages versus not-cousin marriages, of course, then they're not the most common. But if it cousin marriages are in a pool of a ton of other marriage types, from 2-woman 1-man non-cousin marriages, gay non-cousin marriages, marriages between two non-cousins from different states in America... you see what I'm getting at. If you work the data hard enough, you can accurately say that the most common type of marriage is cousin-based, because there are more of that type than any of the other types you have outlined. Cheating at statistics is fun!
Obviously, though, this was not was implied. =P

@ Swicked RE image dumps : well, it's not really a rule, just a "for the comfort of everyone" kind of thing. So I'll let you judge what to do on that basis.
Personally I'd recommend that a single post shouldn't exceed 1.5 MB in size from static images, or 3 MB if it involve an animated gif. Of course if there isn't any post with image on the same page you can push the limit ; but as a rule of thumb if there's already 5-10 MB worth of images and animated gifs on the page, you should ask yourself the question of how necessary it would be for you to not simply link that awesome image/animated gif you want people to see.

Nah, that's one case where it's okay.
The core idea, basically, is "Will the page be more than 15 MB in size by the time it reaches 30 posts if I post these images ?".
Your reaction images are small enough that the post shouldn't exceed 2-3 MB. I think. And I guess we could say that "multiple reaction images" get to abide by the "animated gif" rule of thumb ?

Indeed. The thing you have to remember with machines is that, unless you are talking about self-aware AI, their key aspect is that they only do what you've told them to do ; as loyal and eager to please as a family dog. The problem lies in what you asked them to do and how they were programmed to do it.Tytan wrote:I kinda subscribe to the theory that a machine may be able to perfectly imitate intelligence, but stupidity is humanity's domain.
I can ask my computer to compute the 10^100th decimal of Pi and it'll do it, but depending on what algorithm I gave it to do that it'll take more or less time to do it, and even with the best of algorithms it'll be constrained by how fast its hardware can compute.
Or hell, take a modern airplane. There's stories to be told about the various navigational & security systems that they got on-board these days. And even with how sophisticated and useful they are, there's a reason why "human error" is still a very large proportion of the reasons behind crashes.
By The Book. That's a machine's motto.
