By the way, my ELC crew is now 100% trained. I have both of them grinding their camouflage skills currently.
Does it seem like a good idea ?

I think I've found what's the source of the crash I often experience with the game, and why most of the times it also make my Firefox crash at the same time :
Flash.
Apparently WoT use that piece of crap that is Flash.
And so when the game crash, it crash all running instance of Flash, which include Firefox if it's open on a page containing a flash applet.
Preventative measure is now to close the browser while playing if I'm not using it.

Depends on what kind of scouting you're doing, but I'd recommend starting with sixth sense on your commander. Sixth sense saves lives.Harmony Ltd. wrote:By the way, my ELC crew is now 100% trained. I have both of them grinding their camouflage skills currently.

Fuzzy, I really must say this: I love the M4 Sherman a lot, and I have tasted multiple times of the succulent fruit that is the 17-pounder gun.
I want that Firefly.

I'm sure they'll find a way to mess it up. Firefly's were known for storing some ammo in the front sometimes to carry more, so no doubt they'll see this as reason to give it a frontal ammo rack...

They'll probably give it a low ROF, but that doesn't really matter when no armour would be effective in tier 6.Fuzzy wrote:The idea of a 17-Pounder on a traversable turret at Tier 6 is beyond all realms of "want."RoboRed wrote:Today was a good day.Got ace mastery in my M4, unlocked the T25/2, got the tracks and 2nd gun for my ELC. It'll make the Comet even more outclassed by everything. They should give that the 17-pounder, I'm sure it's just as 'historical' as plenty of the other stuff in the game.
Another thing, everyone is going to get one, like how just about everyone grabbed a Hellcat. Because historically, they were effective and rather famous designs.

Re: Royal Equestrian Armored Division
To be honest, much as I like the 17-pdr at Tier 6, the very fact the mediums don't get it till tier eight when it's all but useless is just a joke. (And not until tier 7 for the heavies!)
I really disagree with how it functions too. The game portrays it as a light gun of rapid firing with decent penetration. This is not a 17 pounder. I'm not asking for a direct buff, but I'd like to see it change from:
High ROF, good penetration, Low damage
to
Lower ROF, good penetration, medium-high damage
In essence, make it less of a DPM gun and more of a sniper alpha striker more similar to how the L7 105mm works. After all, thats closer to what a 17-pdr was intended to and what it actually did. To act as the accurate sniper in each formation of tanks that goes for the bigger targets and deals more damage.
I think that would make it far more unique in the tech tree and give more options without alterring balance either. It's not a buff, it's just a change. You could then have the 77mm remain the DPM machine gun (Which does need a buff anyway! It wasn't as good as a 17-pdr but it wasn't that far behind!) for the Comet and the like.
Give the Comet access to the 17-pdr and then you have a fantastic tank of either DPM or sniper alpha, which suits the Centurion style of play well to help prepare players for them. they did try to put a 17-pdr on the Comet after all. It didn't work...but there's plenty of tanks in game using guns they never could in real life.

The Comet's gun is actually worse than the stock Panther's gun, and it seems pretty much inferior in most other ways as well. And, just for kicks, to quote Wikipedia:
Really though, the 'it didn't fit in the turret' problem is bypassed by other tanks anyway.
Another thing I dug up, the Spanish apparently equipped their M47s with L7s. A shame we don't get those.
Yep, screw you WG.It was armed with the 77mm HV which was effective against late war German tanks and a superior weapon to the 75mm gun of the Panther when firing APDS rounds.

Re: Royal Equestrian Armored Division
The Comet's stock gun is actually pretty much identical to the Stock Panther's.
You have to research the Vickers' 75mm HV on the Cromwell to research the comet and why you wouldn't equip it I dont know.
The HV has a higher rate of fire and can range from slightly better to slightly worse accuracy but there's literally 0.1 either way. The hv has 5 less pen with regular AP but its' APCR has more pen than the Panthers'. Damage is identical per shot, so is aiming time (a crippling 2.3s, which gets better as the Comet progresses but not for the Panther) and the HV is somehow over a ton lighter than the panthers' stock weapon.
The Panthers' best gun however outperforms the Comet massively in penetration- over twice as much with regular AP, but has rather less DPM potential, still has the un-modifiable 2.3s aim time while the Comet can get to 1.5, but has far better accuracy. In fact the Comet's second gun is less accurate than the HV for reasons known only to WG (so you get slightly higher dpm and an almost negligible increase in pen, damage per shot and a higher aiming time for a loss of at least 0.6m of accuracy at 100m).
So elited literally the only thing the Comet has going for it is an extra 400 potential dpm, a good aim time, slightly better mobility and decent gun depression. As opposed to armour, accuracy, MASSIVE penetration etc etc.
Although somehow I still managed to do rather well in the Comet without firing a single round of gold.

For the E2, there are a few valid choices for armament, unlike most tanks.
You can take the M1A1 76mm, or the 105mm M4 howitzer with the very well armoured stock turret.
Or, you can take a weaker turret and have the M1A2 cannon and a bit more HP, with an increased ROF compared to the M1A1 but mostly identical otherwise IIRC.

So, 8. has been confirmed but what about 8.9?
Thus far, the rumours point to
- New German TD Line, focussing on open topped autoloaders, also featuring the long awaited Marger 3 and Nashorn TD's
- New Soviet Premium tank...yaaay...
- American tree potential rebalance focussing on the heavy line
- New Soviet Tier 9 medium tank
Because, you know, there aren't other nations desperately lacking attention, right? I really feel for the French, they've been waiting on the AMX-30 line forever. Not to mention their Char 2C.
