Searchlight sat down in front of the filly. "Sunny, thank Celestia they didn't hurt you." He tightly wrapped his hooves around her. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Sunlight. I promise I'll never leave you again."

"You mean it Daddy?" the filly asked quietly.

[Orm]

"I mean it." He looked down at the filly. "Where's mommy? Is she okay?" He asked.

[CamoBadger]

"I'm right here," another, warm and loving voice answered behind Searchlight.

Charcoal watches as Searchlight's body just freezes and he stares into the ground with his hooves seemingly wrapped around an invisible filly.

[Luck 7 (7+2)(5+2)(5+2)(9+2)]Charcoal stood off to the side, unsure of what to do. After a moment, Charcoal looted the four ghouls.

Charcoal finds:
- 3 pre-war hats
- 4 strips of rotten pony meat
- 50 caps
- 6 pre-war bits

Charcoal pocketed the caps and the pre-war bits.

[Orm]

Searchlight looked at the mare behind him. "Honey?" He said as he stood to look at her, unsure of what to say to the mare. "I missed you."

[CamoBadger]

"I missed you too," the mare replied and put her hooves around Searchlight. Behind her is an opened Stable door that Searchlight hadn't seen before. "I'm so happy you made it back in time."

The filly wrapped her hooves around Searchlight's hoof and squeezed it as she looked up to him happily.


After Charcoal looted the ferals, Searchlight still hasn't moved a muscle.

Searchlight looked at the stable door then back at his wife. "In time for what?" He asked.

[CamoBadger]

"To get away from the war," she answered with a smile. "You won't have to leave anymore."

"Just like you said, Daddy," the filly agreed excitedly and kissed Searchlight on his leg which had somehow returned to its true color; completely healed along with the rest of his body.

"You... you do want to stay, right?"

[Orm]

"I-I..." He didn't know what to say. He looked down at his daughter then back at his wife. He looked back at Charcoal. He dragged him this far, and would everyone be fine with him just leaving them. He couldn't leave everyone like that, but he didn't want to leave his family again. He just stared at the ground, unsure of how to answer her.

"You aren't going to stay are you?" the mare asked sadly. "It's okay... you have an important job." She bent down and picked up the filly. "Daddy has to go, sweetie."

"To protect us?"

"That's right... so how about you say goodbye," the mare told the filly quietly.

The little pony looked at her mother, then over to Searchlight and kissed him softly on the nose. "Goodbye Daddy... I love you..."

[Orm]

"I love you too, Sunny." He said as tears began to form at the corners of his eyes. "Goodbye."

[CamoBadger]

The mare leaned in and kissed Searchlight softly, and the warm feeling stuck to his lips when she pulled away and trotted over to the big door with the filly.

They both turned around as the door started to swing shut, and the illusion slowly started to fade away from the edges of Searchlight's vision. The last thing he saw was his wife and daughter waving to him until the door finally closed and hid them away again.

The illusion faded completely, leaving Searchlight staring straight at the ground where his daughter used to be. The warm feeling of the two kisses lingered for a moment longer, then faded away forever.

Searchlight continued to stare at the ground. After some time he got up and looked at Charcoal. "We can go now." He said as he started to walk back in the direction they came from.

[XT Vengeance]

Charcoal followed Searchlight. "You alright? You were just kind of sitting there hugging the air," Charcoal said, concerned.

[Orm]

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. I just... I just had to say something." He said while looking at the ground.

[XT Vengeance]

"Alright. Lets just get back to the others, alright?"

[Orm]

"Yeah, let's go. Can you do me a favour, can we keep what happened here between us?" He asked.

[XT Vengeance]

"You got it," Charcoal replied. he then made his way out of the house and started heading back to Tenpony.

((15 minutes later - Charcoal and Searchlight arrive at the base of Tenpony))

Charcoal made his way inside the building across the street and entered the room where he had left Miri.

"Hey, I'm back," he said cheerily, trotting up to her and sitting down.

[CamoBadger]

Mira quickly covered up her belly and blushed as Charcoal walked in. "Uh, how did it go?"

[XT Vengeance]

"Oh! I...I'm sorry Miri...I didn't...I should have knocked," Charcoal said, incredibly embarrassed. "I...sorry," he said, backing away slowly.

[CamoBadger]

"No, it's okay. I, uh... I probably should find more private places," she replied nervously. "You can come in. I'll uh, I'll just stay covered."

[XT Vengeance]

[Perception 6 (6+1)]"Sorry," he said again, sitting down next to her. "I-" Charcoal stopped. As he looked into her eyes he noticed the gash on her head. "Miri, you're injured!" he said in worry. "We should head into the clinic and get that checked out," he said, concern in his voice.
