"Because I turned into you." She replied. "Like I said I've got a deal. Are you interested?"

"It's just one of my abilities." Alvina replied.

"Ooookaaaay..." the griffin looked around and blinked repeatedly to make sure she wasn't insane. "Um... you said you had a deal or something?"

When she saw him smile Clock started weeping tears of joy, "I love you too."

"Clock...we...we should get moving. We...we don't really have time to waste. As...as much as I want to just stay here with you the others need you. You are our only medic after all."

She nodded. "I do. I want this collar off my neck."

"Uhhh...I can't help with that... how did I get a collar on?"

"Well... they need you too. I think you're the leader now."

She sighed. "I'm not you from the future and of course you can help you work here. You have to have a key for this thing." she gently tapped her talons on the collar.

"No, only the Boss has a key for the collars," she explained.

"Leader? I...I don't know about that," Charcoal said, unsure of himself. He made his way out of the room.

Alvina glared internally at the mention of the boss. "Okay. How do we get the key?"

"Um... we aren't allowed to touch the key. Not after last time."

"Everyone looks to you for direction. You've been deciding where we go since Old Appleoosa."

"What if my offer is good enough? Would you consider it then?"

"No, you don't understand. He won't let us touch the key. He'll pluck my feathers if I try to take it again."

She rubbed her beak. "What about taking them off without a key? Can anyone do that?"

"Um... some slaves have tried before... it didn't end well if they failed," the griffin scratched her neck.

"Clock, I...I'm not really a leader. I...you all just followed," Charcoal said.

Her wings sagged. "Alvina, I'm starting to think you can't help me." She rubbed her eyes. "So the boss will unlock the collars when someone buys a slave?"

"Yes, that's usually what he does, unless they pay extra to keep the collar," she told the other Alvina.

"Can you buy a few slaves then?"

Clock patted him on the shoulder, "You're a natural. You take command, you make plans, you lead. And you're good at it."

"Why would I do that?!" she asked loudly.

She brought a talon to her beak in a shushing motion. "Because I have something to offer you in return."

"What's that?"

"Well... I heard some things about you. I can be anyone." She said suggestively.
