Also, I am really excited the opening two-parter ties into the S3 finale, since it introduced a lot of interesting information about the Elements which wasn't elaborated upon as much as I would have liked. It really should have been a 2-3 part episode, so a continuation of it sounds fantastic.
Also, I really, really hope that it's another musical episodes. Musical episodes are awesome.

- Oh, I don't think the third episode will be an outright continuation of the three-parter, but even a slight relation of the episodes would be a good start.
Musical Episodes... Weeell, depends if it's gonna be at the expense of pacing like in MMC. They were forced to do it to hurry up the episode's plot, but that doesn't change the fact they were trying to tell a story worth at least two episodes (if not more) in just one.
I'd rather not repeat that, thank you very much.

- That was in the comics? My memory could very well be failing me due to the large quantities of Pony material I've processed through my brain, but I thought that idea was from a fanfiction, not part of the canon.
Well, if it indeed is official, then it makes sense why all of the Mane 6 would want to help, and it would be hilarious to watch it happen like in your spoiler.
Though in some very rare cases the fans are justified in their actions as they go through with it in the name of sanity and narrative coherence. *cough* ME3 Ending *cough*
EDIT: Speaking of the comics, the last two issues were hilarious, and it's nice that the comics give more space to the secondary characters, fleshing them out a bit with added character development.

Also if the flashback stuff is gonna be all in the two-parter, where does the third episode, also taking place in the caste, come in all of that?
EDIT: And we might also get an actual fight scene, which would be nice after that rather anti-climatic duel between Celestia and Chrysalis.

What highlights, you mean the lighting on the Ponies? It's the wrong font, and the kerning on the 1 is all fucked up. Don't get me wrong, the person who made this sure knows their stuff, but they probably tried to find the font the show uses and found something very similar. Twilight goes back in time to when Luna was NMM. NMM defeats Celestia, but Mary Sue Sparkle arrives just in time to use the elements of harmony of the past and seals away NMM. Thus, sealing her fate as the most forced character in the show's history.

Twilight goes back in time to when Luna was NMM. NMM defeats Celestia, but Mary Sue Sparkle arrives just in time to use the elements of harmony of the past and seals away NMM. Thus, sealing her fate as the most forced character in the show's history.

I'm a sucker for time-travel and paradoxes, so it might just be me, but if Twilight were to really go back in time it would put a twist on the entire tale of Nightmare Moon and the events in Twilight's life.
1) Twilight somehow gets to the moment where Luna turned into NMM.
2) NMM then really defeats Celestia instead of being sealed into the Moon by her.
3) Twilight, who is the Element of Magic, uses the Elements making her the one who sealed NMM, not Celestia.
4) Twilight then may or may not share some knowledge of the future events with Celestia
5) Regardless of that, Celestia maybe recognized her the day of her entrance test into the School for Gifted Unicorns and connected the dots.
6) She decided to make Twilight her personal protégé to be able to guide her down the path she believed would lead her to becoming the Element of Magic and an alicorn, eventually leading her back to that fateful night in the past.
She couldn't have of course known what exactly to do unless Twilight had shared her knowledge of future events, but time has its way of "repairing" itself. Though if she did share it, it could explain how Celestia knew about a lot of stuff and why she, in some cases where it made no sense, let Twilight deal with the situation instead of dealing with it herself.
Of course there are numerous plot holes here.
How would Twilight be able to control all of the Elements? Not to mention that if she did it would only further unbalance the characters of Mane 6, and so soon after her ascencion to alicornhood no less. That would definitely be a bad thing
Why wouldn't Luna remember Twilight being there?
If Twilight wouldn't tell past-Celestia anything there'd be many more, at best, conflicting things.
And of course we already had an episode dealing with time-travel where the olny spell lasted a few seconds at most and was usable only once, so...
I wouldn't call all that downright rage-inducing if handled well. It would put a new perspective on things. Also, it could mean that major events in Twilight's life, including the Elements and ascenion to Princesshod were orchestrated by herself, not by Celestia. It's still kinda creepy, but not as creepy as if Celestia were the puppet-master.

- A headcanon I've always kinda held is that there were other Element bearers (Sombra, perhaps?) who were forced to choose sides between Celestia and NMM and were killed in the ensuing struggle. Of course, this episode is probably going to disprove my pitiful ideas, but for the moment I think the standard is that she needs her harem. It'd be kinda hard for Purplesmart to be friends with herself.
Maybe she could best friends with her wings?

- I hope not, that'd just be lazy. If they're really gonna pull the time-travel off and let her use the Elements they better have a reasonable explanation, something better than "Magic. *snort* *snort*" or "She's an alicorn princess.".
If the Elements worked even through time, so she wouldn't be actually using them alone... Dunno, I've got nothing.
As much as I like that infinite time-loop paradox I don't want just another deus ex machina.

- I have kinda mixed feelings about this.
Firstly, I wonder what is Twilight doing in Canterlot. I mean, not that she couldn't be there at all, I just hope that she's just visiting or something and it's not a long-term thing.
I'm glad they seem to have really kept her personality intact (Which also means I still stand by my point that she's not the best candidate for a princess.), but I sure hope not everyone will treat her like these Canterlotians do, it would get extremely annoying really quickly.
