IIRC, slavers cut her tongue out. The Reapers of this area aren't slavers.

From what Camo has revealed, they don't work with anypony who isn't a ghoul.
I'm pretty sure that is what happened to Ditzy, though.

Maybe. But they could always dispose of them after they were done using them. That's besides the point. I'm pretty certain pip assumed Ditzy's tongue was cut off by raiders because of the way she found her.

What your characters now know:

The ghouls who attacked Fiddler's Hoof and Freemane are a group called the Reapers. They are extremists who believe they can restore Equestria again, but that everyone that isn't a ghoul doesn't deserve to live in what they remember Equestria to be. They indiscriminately kill any non-ghoul they find, and have only recently become active.

Ditsy also told Searchlight about their leader, Pinnacle, but Searchlight did not tell your characters that because he has already killed several ghouls for mentioning his name to non-ghouls.
