*The two dined mostly in silence, but talked occasionally, sometimes throwing in a little flirt or two. Eventually, both meals disappeared. Buckler wiped his face with a napkin and stood up.*

*Smiling, he walks back into the kitchen, then returns, bearing a large plate of sliced apples, and some rather large-looking whole ones, along with a little bowl of caramel. He sets it on the table.*

Straight from the old Apple family trees from Stable Two. Some of the largest and juiciest apples I've ever seen. They were selling them at a stand that was in town today. *smiles* What do you think?

She told me about "surrogacy". *scratches head* I don't know exactly how the procedure is done, though. But what they do is they take and egg and some sperm from the couple who can't give birth, and then they put it in another mare, and she bears the child for them. *looks at Shayle* I-I know it sounds a little weird, but...I really think it sounds like it'd work.

Shayle nodded and stayed quiet for a minute, not exactly sure what to think. "But, the baby would still be...ours, right?" she asked in a worried tone.

Shayle looked down in thought, trying to figure out who might do that. "Um...what about someone we went to...the place...with?" she asked, not happy that the memories of their life years before had come back.
