*smiles* Thanks, Crys...I mean...I knew about adoption, but...we were really hoping to raise of foal of our own flesh and blood. *rubs eyes* It looks like that might still happen after all. I'll have to ask Shayle first. *looks down* I hope she agrees...

*gives Crys another hug* Thank you, again. *releases her and takes a breath* Well, now that I've sobered up a little. I should probably get back to buying food. I think I'll bring up the topic with her over dinner. *gets up and starts to walk out door, stops, then turns around, smiling sheepishly* Umm...you wouldn't happen to have any dinner suggestions, would you?

Go to the cafe and ask for their "couple's special" to take home. That should work out.

Buckler left Crystalane and the clinic in much higher spirits than he had before. She had opened his eyes to options he hadn't known existed. Now, he once again had hope that there was still a chance he and Shayle could bear a foal of their own...in a different way, of course. Plus, he still needed to bring this “surrogacy” subject up to Shayle and make sure it was alright with her. First thing's first, though: he still needed to get food for her like he promised he would. Shaking out the last bits of an alcohol-induced haze from his head, he walked out into the town again.


Daylight was beginning to fade, yet the oncoming evening would be a warm one. The town was starting to pick up in activity. Some buildings were beginning to turn their outside lights on. Ponies were walking to and fro, going about their business, trying to getting things finished before they returned home for the evening.


Following Crys' recommendation, Buckler went over to the cafe and picked up an order of the “Couple's Special”. Not exactly a home-cooked meal like he was planning, but then again, cooking wasn't his strong point to begin with. After paying the mare at the register, he started to head home, when he noticed a stand set up in the town, selling fruit. Deciding that they would make for a great dessert that Shayle would really like, Buckler purchased a few apples, pocketed them in his saddlebags, and resumed walking back to the mansion.


A while later, he arrived and opened the door, walking in.


“Hey, Shayle! I'm home!”

Shayle picked herself up from the couch and trotted to the front hall. Her eyes were still red and puffy from crying, but the tears have dried up. "Hey, welcome home."

*gently shrugs off his saddlebags and walks over to Shayle, giving her a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek* Hey, how're you doing?

[CamoBadger]

"Better..." she replied weakly. "How was the walk?"

[RoboRed]

A bit longer than I thought it'd take. *chuckles a little* I ran into Crys while I was in town.

"Oh, how is she?"

[RoboRed]

She's doing just fine, from what I can tell. *spaces off a little* We had a nice long talk. *snaps to attention and looks at saddlebags* Oh, she also had a great suggestion for dinner tonight. I'm sure you'll like it. *smiles*

"Sounds good. What did you get?" Shayle asked with a grin.

The "Couples' Special" from the cafe. A dinner specifically meant for two. *smiles* I haven't had a look at it yet, but it smells delicious. You're gonna love dessert, though. I picked it out myself. *walks over to saddlebags and sifts through them*

"It sounds great, thank you," Shayle told him with a quick kiss on the cheek.

*smiles as he pulls the food box out from his saddlebags* You go on ahead into the dining room. I'll set up the table and everything.

[CamoBadger]

"Okay, see you there." The mare gave him a last kiss and trotted off to the dining room.

[RoboRed]

*Buckler placed the food box back into the saddlebags, and donned them once more, walking into the kitchen. He began the process of setting the table for the two of them, bringing out plates, glasses, and utensils, and finally, a bottle of grape juice, and the boxes containing the food - a pair of colorful mixed greens salads, a wedge of fine cheese, a bowl of glazed carrots, and two delicious seasoned brahmin steaks. He had to resist diving right into them as he served the food.*

Bon appetit, my dear. * he said as he poured out a glass of juice for her*

((God help me if I ever have to set up a menu for a romantic dinner. This was all off the top of my head.))
