I greatly enjoy this one. Gives me the vibe of DooM95/DooM2 (maybe more of the Dark Side of Phobos project).Ketchup wrote:<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/9nY6YJPj-QQ?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/9nY6YJPj-QQ?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Re: What are you listening to?
Oh my god is it ever a good time to be a black metal fan. Not only will the new Kvelertak album drop soon - it sounds great, by the way - but a new Altar of Plagues album is coming out in a month, and the preview song from it is... ungodly beautiful. By far the rawest, most violent and chaotic thing they've ever made, but it's still Altar of Plagues, and it's still enrapturing.
Link to music video. Video is kinda weird, and not in your average metal music video way.

Indeed one of the rawest, most violent and chaotic things, with that I agree, but that's about it for me. Guess I'm looking for/imagining something different when it comes to raw and/or violent music. And chaotic... I always thought that music was supposed to be more harmonic rather than chaotic, noise it chaotic, yes, but music?Overlong Analysis Cobalt wrote:Oh my god is it ever a good time to be a black metal fan... *snip* ...By far the rawest, most violent and chaotic thing they've ever made... *snip*
Oh well, guess there's a reason why my music taste is in minority, don't mind my ranting, carry on.

Re: What are you listening to?
=P Oh, you're vastly in the majority when it comes to music like this, believe me. This stuff's way more discordant than Plagues' usual work, mind you; I think it's falling more in the realm of experimental than their old subgenre of post-rock.Formis_Hoodiegod wrote:Indeed one of the rawest, most violent and chaotic things, with that I agree, but that's about it for me. The point of it is atmosphere and a sense of barely restrained chaos - it's basically just distortion taken to the next logical step. The production isn't all that raw compared to some of their contemporaries in the field, of course - they are actually putting tons of thought into how it's put together, instead of just doing the old black metal standby of dropping a $10 mic next to their amp and playing in a cave. And it's still quite harmonic, AFAICT - I'm no music major, but they're certainly nowhere near as discordant or noise-y as, say, Portal, Mayhem, or (of course) Merzbow. It's just very layered.
But yeah, most people just can't get past the three main barriers to entry: tremolo picking, blastbeats, and extreme vocals. Once you can appreciate those, though, oh man. There's some fantastic work out there, depending on what you're looking for.
@Valikdu
Yay! The '80s had of great stuff come out. For instance, Judas Priest!

Re: What are you listening to?
Well I think I might be in a lot of "majorities" when it comes to disliking certain kind of music, what I meant was more that I'm in minority when it comes to the kind I really like which is trailer/epic music of course, though I suspect that could also be because of its nonavailability. Not that I mind that much, I certainly wouldn't want for trailer music to become mainstream, horrible things happenOverlong Analysis Cobalt wrote:=P Oh, you're vastly in the majority when it comes to music like this, believe me. to genres that go down that road. But I'd still like for it to be more appreciated.
Paradoxes are a great invention of the time-space, I tell you.
I only sought to point out that label "chaotic" isn't really fitting in connection to music. Regardless of how it may seem music can't be truly chaotic, there should be patterns and purpose to it otherwise it's just noise. At least that's how I see it, some people may like chaotic.*snip*... Well I can surely appreciate good vocals, they are more valuable than gold (or whatever is actually valuable these days),... but a different kind of vocals probably.
As for the rest, that isn't really my thing. Beats in general can be fine, rythmic, but in trailer music I'm usually looking for different kind
of rythm, like drums (the big kind), something that hits harder, setting the monumental kind of rythm. Like you heard in Clash of Titans
I posted in the previous post, dynamic, yet there's strength, power behind it.

Woo, stoner metal! Not sure why it's called "stoner" tbh. But that's the genre this (and XT's) are apparently in! According to Encyclopedia Metallum, anyway.XT Vengeance wrote:<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/GjmljShU3JM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
