I don't think they're really human personalities or characteristics in general for that matter. I think it's kinda arrogant of humans to consider any and all signs of sentience/sapience as human characteristics just because we haven't enountered any other sentient/sapient race, yet.
Just call them sentient/sapient being characteristics or something.

As for Anthro, I can't say I'm a fan of it but there are a few pictures that look the way I'd imagine it. What usually put me off is the general anatomy though.

The ponies' anthropomorphic nature is relative to real ponies, not so much to humans. Their mannerisms, intelligence, architecture, and more are very human-like, whereas regular ponies... well, they don't build at all and their mannerisms are primal. The ponies act much more like humans than real ponies do, that's a fact.

Though on the subject of making the characters into humans? No; there is absolutely no point. At least, not in fanfic. It's like ponification. No, no, no.

I didn't mean to imply that they don't act like humans at all, only that when you put it like human-like behavior it sounds like something reserved only to humans and no one else is capable of it, which, given the scale of the universe (multi-verse), is extremely unlikely (Let's say the chance is 0,0000...0001).
So yes, they act like we do, because we're the only living form we know of which we can compare such behaviour to. But I like to think outside the box about these things, humans are only subset of something larger.

I agree there's not much point in complete humanization from beginning to the end in fanfics, unless it's some sort of transformation that is part of the plot or whatever, but it's nice thing in pictures when nicely done.

Differs from portait to portait for me. For example the Chrysalis ones were great.
