On the Syrian thing, coming from a position of great ignorance, I'd guess it might in part have to do with being right on the Mediterranean, and a more compact, dense country. More places to go, easier, and less difficult to leave the country in the first place.

Actually, IIRC, millions of refugees have fled Afghanistan since 2001 (to the point where until now it had been one of the biggest source of refugees worldwide), and before. The only reason you have probably not heard about it is that most of these refugees have gone to Pakistan, and other countries neighboring Afghanistan.

As for the reason why there are so many refugees coming from Syria is that, if I had to guess:

1- the country is so divided and there is so much violence going on that the only way common people see to survive is simply to flee the country.
2- the average Syrian is wealthier and more educated than your average Afghani. In fact, those who emigrate to Europe, instead of simply the neighboring countries, are the middle and upper-middle class of Syria.
3- almost all of these refugees are simply fleeing the war, and would be ready to go back to Syria once things go back to "normal". They don't intend to settle here.

From what I've read, amongst refugees from Syria there are 'refugees' from other countries, who is not involved in war. Their goal afaik is simply get to wealthier parts of Europe on back of Syrians and settle there. But I might be wrong, since I've read only few articles on said topic, which might be biased.

I think you can pickpocket while in casino and then (if you spear him) kill him in Caesar's camp. I don't remember if it'll cause 2 Maria's to spawn. But you know. They all have own weapons of retribution. Benny - Maria. Caesar - Light Shining in the Darkness.

And I totally wasn't wearing Joshua's outfit, while wielding that pistol.

To be fair, it's the best pistol and (one of the) best medium armor in the game.

Though those days are over, it seems. The new order of the day is creating your own ridiculously insane outfits, armors, and weapons. And I love it.

Freespace: Blue Planet has just recieved a big update.

It's not a new chapter, but it adds voice acting to War in Heaven, has lots of new features and tweaks for all of Blue Planet including a lot of new and rewritten dialogs, and I'm gonna replay BP in the near future.

-Had a so-so UFO raid that landed two of my best people in long-term healing (including Van Doom, oh no);
-Gave most of the laser rifles to Argentina because that country's been hit with EVERY Alien Terror so far (3), has just almost been driven off due to an unpreventable satellite shoot down (saved by the Coundil of all things, which gave the bomb mission that reduced panic) and needs at least some panic resistance;
-And the Council immediately drops Confounding Light on me.

TXCB. Well, not really, but it will be a real TXCB if Gangplank follows immediately after...
