See, I always felt that the various Benders never used their powers creatively enough. If I were a Water Bender, I'd just move half the water in a person's body two feet to the left.

Well, not every bender's apparently as psychopathic as you... Though, they did have an episode about blood bending, and it was treated in a very 'this is horrible' manner since apparently it lets you essentially move the target's body as if they were a puppet...while they're fully aware of what's happening...Scienza wrote:See, I always felt that the various Benders never used their powers creatively enough. I agree. An Air Bender could change the air pressure of a location enough to make someone implode or explode, and an Earth Bender could cause a volcanic eruption or some similar event, but that's never done. Army giving you grief? Mt St Helens their asses. That whole series seems a little off to me, and that's partly why. Granted, I haven't seen much of it, but that's my thoughts.

I'm aware of that. I was a little distracted, so that post didn't come out quite as intended. Anyway, it would still be pretty fucking awesome to see.

Do the Firebenders have problems with burning people?
The way I see it, if they're not willing to be as ruthless as their enemies, they're just asking the Fire Nation to walk all over them.

Since fire bending is based on anger I don't think they would care, though since it's a kid's show they don't kill anyone on screen.Scienza wrote:Do the Firebenders have problems with burning people?

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
I'd post this in the Warhammer 40K thread, but this amuses me so much that I feel like sharing it.
I've been looking over player-written tactics to help with writing my homebrew codices for W40K, and I had stumbled upon something that made me giggle for a good while. There is a build for the Chapter Master character, which is known as the "Chapter Master Smashfucker" build. I'm not even joking about this. When the others of his kind are Chapter Masters Dante, Helbrecht, Azrael, etc., we have Chapter Master Smashfucker of the Iron Hands.
What makes me laugh even harder is that /tg/ talks about him in a serious context. Yes, I know that that's typical of 4chan, but it's still pretty funny to me.
He sounds like he could be part of his own comedy fic. "The Adventures of Smashfucker and the Iron Hands".

On the other side they could force water into their enemy's lungs. Not as intimidating as what you suggested but I wouldn't imagine it'd take much of it to incapacitate your enemy.

Eventually, controlling the elements or not, it's only a question of being creative enough when it comes to killing people.

Re: Bending
Bah, just wait for a rainy day, then make a few icicles in the rain and you have yourself an assassination tool. I would think they aren't that creative because they didn't need to be. Much like how tech is stiffled in Equestria due to Magic solving most of their problems, there isn't a need for innovation. Since most of Aang's story takes place in large open areas, raw force is more appropriate. Shifting forward to Korra's time, you can't just break apart the earth willy-nilly or lob giant fireballs in the city without repurcussions.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
Hello all!
My name is Obs. Some of you may know, some of you may have heard of me, some of you may be wondering who this joker is. The point is however is that I'm here to talk with you lovely people.
Talk about what you could be wondering? Well, that's entirely up to you guys. I want to add my 2 cents to the pile and contribute to as many discussions as I can. You see, I used to be a part of the Cloudsville community nearly 2 years ago, originally from the Equestria Daily era of PH, I would participate in the Project Horizons discussion thread as well as lurk in the other threads around the site. However due to a combination of lethargy, chronic sleep deprivation, slight loss of sanity and a vicious cycle of guilt I stopped posting and participating in what was one of the most friendly, clever, and interesting communities I've ever been a part of. You guys don't know it, but knowing you guys both in and out of Cloudsville was one of the best things that ever happened to me, and I want to repay that debt.
I thought for a long time about what to do exactly, what I could do to help the community and show how much everyone meant to me, but between the responsibilities of school and work and my personal failings I could never come up with a way that properly communicated the gravity of how I felt, but then I realized, or rather, was taught by a certain sk that I needn't do something for every single day that I've missed posting on Cloudsville, I simply need to contribute once again to help the Cloudsville community be as happy as possibly can be.
So by the power of CAKE I have resurrected myself again in a tirade of critical thought, pastries, and happiness. Perhaps through these efforts and flushing sanity itself down the toilet, maybe I'll be able to make up for 10% of the time I've missed.
And remember: Always do the cooking by your book, never let someone make you use their recipe, or a messy one for that matter, lest the cake end up crazy.
Thank you all.

Btw, in regards to the Bending discussion, I've always thought fire benders were neat, they seem the most straightforward of the 4 main bending schools and I have wondered that since their domain is fire, could they also control heat? If so they might be able to bud in on a water bender's gig if they were to sap a bunch of heat out of an area turning all the water in the area into ice, causing all sorts of nasty effects for people inside the area. If not, then I think they could certainly create a vacuum with a forceful explosion, which would either be very good or very bad for an air bender.
Also Iron, I wouldn't worry too much, I think Admiral just wanted people to reply to his Ipad story, and I did read the story and I chuckled a bit, too bad it broke in the first place though, but then that's why I have backups of everything.

Have yet to see the new banner. Scripts are an on and off thing where I'm typing from at the moment. Today they decide to be off.
On a side note, when my grandpa visited this Sunday I remembered a comment that my umbrella was classy (and made me look old (in jest)) so I showed it to him. He liked it so much he took it home. I now need a new umbrella.

Re: [Official!] Project Horizons Comment Crew Chat thread.
OBS just wanted me to temporarily change the banner to this as a joke and a callout to those on the TS/RP who already know him: http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/053/f/d/lazy_town_stephanie_pony_by_tomoe_chi-d5vt14p.png
I figured it would be funny for a bit. It was supposed to be for an hour, but he took a while to get stuff typed up before posting, and I wanted to change it back to normal before I left for class.
Truth be told, I kinda want to change the theme of the site to something else, mostly because the color scheme screams "DEFAULT FORUM". Only things holding me back are Camo and the thought of how the artist of the current banner would feel if I took it down.
Starting to think that neither would care, though.
