Okay, my mom was going to throw out the iPad, sell it off or whatever, so I took it to the iStore and asked them to look at it. I told them it wouldn't charge, indicate it was charging or even respond to button presses. They looked at it and asked, "How long did you charge it?"
I said, "Overnight."
They looked up the registration info on it and said, "This is a generation 1, the first model @ 16 GB. We don't make this anymore and we can't take it apart to see what's wrong with it here. Here're some options: it's out of warranty so replacement is at full cost about 500 dollars, or you can replace the battery for 99.

"If you replace the battery we give you our last Generation 1 iPad we have in stock. It won't have all your old data on it; did you back up the data? No? Well, it'll be just a new iPad for you then. We just need for you to verify this information."

Suddenly that iPad was registered under my name by the serial number. Even had my address as its owner location. Weird huh?

So I got the new one and payed 99 dollars.

Now, I get home and mom said, "Oh, you didn't replace it? Well just put it with the rest, and I'll sell it off."

I said, "Nope, I replaced it."

Mom: "Oh, well awesome! I didn't think they would replace it because of the wine."

"If they knew about the wine they wouldn't have done it, but still, I payed to have it replaced."

Mom: "How much do I owe you to pay you back?"

"But, I kind of wanted it, otherwise I wouldn't have replaced it. I've set it up and also don't let Nick and Kate know the security key."

Mom: "Why not?"

"I don't want to share it. It's tied to my accounts and I don't want them buying stuff with my bank account."

Mom: "Why would they buy from your account on my iPad?"

"Because I set it up with my account information. I wanted the iPad and you were going to just throw it out anyway."

Mom: "Well, I didn't know you could have gotten it replaced for 99 dollars."

"They wouldn't have replaced it if you told them about the wine. Which was why when I was leaving and you told me about how it stopped after you spilled wine on it I said, 'I wish you hadn't told me that.' I just pretended I didn't know about the wine and went about the situation as I would have before you told me about the wine."

Mom: "Well I'll pay you back."

I really Think she totally missed the whole point of me going out to do that. Maybe I'll Look at Android Tablets or something. I am thinking of buying an iPad to spite the situation, get a full sized one of the newer models or something.

I'd say it is a fairly understandable reaction than to get pissed at such a state of affair.

Apart from Medicaid and Obamacare, isn't any local, state- or nation-wide Charity/NGO that could help you get the medical help you need?

We're working on that. We missed the last date for the Obamacare medical thing, so the next place we're looking is Medicaid. If that doesn't work, then my family needs to start looking harder.
