Personally, I'm more interested in the sort of plane one can jump out of (more than once, at least) but nobody looks at a C-130 in amazement at how cool it is

I saw one in the air after it took off from Westover AFB. Doesn't even look like it should be able to fly; I was outpacing it in a Cessna. Also saw a C-5 on a fucking taxiway that was skinnier than its hull. I don't know how the hell they got permission to use it, but they did.

Yeah, personally, I'm aiming to go on a transport unit once I'll have completed my initial training. I'm not really attracted toward fighters - if only because I don't really want to have to deal on a daily basis with goddamn fighter pilots

I could also go toward helicopters, but only the bests go there, and I doubt I'll have the scores to cut it.

I'm hoping to get Air Assault-qualified at some point after Basic, so I might deal a bit with helicopters. Around here (Stone and Camo can correct me if I'm wrong) helicopter pilots are almost always Warrant Officers that started out Enlisted in a technical field (often something like helicopter repair and maintenance.) And they tend to be more mature than fighter pilots (Chopper-pilots being shot at by RPG's 'n shit would tend to beat out the frat-boy bullshit while fighter pilots fly around virtually unchallenged)

It's okay, give them a little Cessna 150 and watch them hurt themselves trying to:
A) Turn it on
B) Get in
C) Realize the ignition is inside and they need a key to both get in and turn it on
D) Realize all the instruments are analog
E) Say fuck it and fall on their face getting out

Frost, I was assisting Air-Assault cadre this summer. It's a damn good school to go to, if you can make it past the first two days you'll be fine. And chopper pilots are definitely fun guys to be around. They offered rides to anyone who wants to go because they get bored just flying the chopper.
