Re: X-Com: Enemy Within
I figured. What I was getting at was the feature was cut along with other features most likely.

Re: X-Com: Enemy Within
Enforcer is good at being a mindless arcade shooter. It just has no business having an X-Com logo on it.
Maybe it was from a previous version of the game. I don't even think that the retool that brought it "in line" with EU was the first one, so there was a lot of opportunity for these abilities to get made and then get cut.
*shrug*However before the games release I saw them showcasing a power which allowed for the capture of alien technology

Yeah it was during previous build. I think it was before the game disappeared and got it's name change.

I found an article about it.

What a complete mess.
...
I'd actually have liked to have that 2011 TacFPS version with the "crystals, singularities and Sinister Geometry" Outsiders.

I wished Spoony has continued his X-Com livestream and had them recorded.
And I need to check his site and twitter, cause I got to know what he thinks of all this. He's funny.

Well a new trailer came out, labeled War Machines.
The trailer is here.
Neutral and informational article about it here.
And a "Xcom is becoming actiony and my soldiers will suffer from this" article here.
All I can say is, "Well, that's an interesting alien thing there. All floaty with tentacles and can go invisible."

Narrated Gameplay Trailer of Enemy Within here.
Looks interesting so far, that dam looks awesome, though I'm iffy about the "mission" he was on. I hope it was just a mock thing they designed just for sample gameplay footage, cause it seems to have the tutorial mission feel to it. Of scripted things you need to do to advance and scripted death. Poor Alex Murphy.

Re: X-Com: Enemy Within
I got to go check that out later. Wasn't expecting base defense at all.
The cult, if my memory serves from what little I read is from the first game. They believe the aliens are super awesome and that X-Com is evil.
Edit: Upon reviewing the announced achievements.
Eeyup, human enemies and base defense if the vibe I'm getting. Also I have to guess a fully augmented soldier WILL turn against you, or at least has a chance too as well. Basing that solely on the fact a soldier with 5 mods unlocked an achievement titled "Enemy Within". Yes I know it's the name of the DLC and it's cause you're using MELD, but I still say/think there's a chance of turned soldiers.
Hmmm "Kill an enemy sniper with snipers" Complete with Team Fortress 2 shout out with the title of "G'day"
The "Kill a Berskerer in melee combat" is probably going to be really easy to get, but at the same time makes me think of something like this happening.
They can just fuck right off with that "Beat the game on Classic+ using ONLY a squad size of four" meaning you can't even buy the squad upgrades. And oh by the way, from what I hear they're making Classic and Impossible even harder for the expansion.
And seems to be they're adding another "hero" unit like Zhang so a free soldier you can't customized other than skills and also they're bringing back some elements from the scrapped DLC when Slingshot proved to be unpopular/they decided to go a different way. The missions Deluge and Furies are straight from that and have the same icons as before but different names. Looks like Portent will not be featured, which is a shame cause the Icon for it was a crashed car and the title of the achievement was "The Chase is on."

- Video background:
- The joke is that the player was in melee combat with a high level(compared to the party's level of course) demon, and naturally the ranger, who had miss every single shot in the fight so far, landed both his Twin Strike shots with one being a crit.

Re: X-Com: Enemy Within
So I went-a forum diving in the 2K forums to see what info I could glean from there.
Over all not a whole lot of new stuff that we haven't mentioned here already, but I will say I feel sorry for anybody who gets Enemy Within for the console if they already have Enemy Unknown.
As already stated, Enemy Within is basically gonna act as an expansion for the PC version of the game, which we'll be able to turn on and off as we please like the Slingshot DLC and the Second Wave options. So we can have our regular games and our crazy, gene manipulated, cyborgs game. But since there's so much new shit in the expansion they simply can't do the same for the console and make it work, thus it's a stand alone game.
Which means they have to unlock all the Achievements and Second Wave options again if they already have Enemy Unknown and then get Within.
Since I have the PC version I don't really care too much but I still feel for those poor bastards cause I use to be them a few years ago.
Only other thing I got is that with Enemy Within active, MELD will show up in like the first or second map, kicking that off early, the justification is that MELD is a nano-machines paste that bonds organic to inorganic material that the aliens used to make the Floaters and enhanced the Mutons, and is part of the aliens experiments on humans. The self destruct timers is because the aliens view it as a valuable resource and "if they can't have it, nobody can". Also, unless you're damn lucky and good at collecting MELD, you'll probably end up with at most 2 fully upgraded MEC troops and everybody else with gene stuff by end game.
Also, there was once talk of being Enemy Within WITHOUT using MELD, the MEC Troops, or the gene manipulation, but it was decided against cause what's the point of putting all that stuff in if you're not gonna use it.
Ya'know, other than for the challenge.

So now we can pre-order Enemy Within on console, Pc, and on Steam. Currently it has a 10% dicount on the price if you pre-order now. No idea if there will be any other pre-order bonuses.
In other news, we'll be able to get some MELD from killing Mectoids.

Re: X-Com: Enemy Within
Watching the new trailer again, it's safe to say that the woman in the truck that burst out is Annette, who the Progeny DLC council missions are based around.
Gonna guess she's a powerful psychic and will probably join X-Com during or after those story missions are complete. Also, seeing how they didn't reinstate the Saved to Savior achievement from before they scrapped Progeny and merged it with Enemy Within, you don't have to have her become the Volunteer unless you want to.
Well, only thing I can see that hasn't been addressed in full from what I've seen and read so far is the stuff about giving out medals to your troops, and whatever mission the Zom-B-Gone achievement is related to.
I'm still kinda holding out that "Remington… Max Remington" achievement also deals with using a speical troop you can get during gameplay, but it's probably just for any troop you sent to infiltrate the EXALT.
If ya'll haven't already seen it, here's a video by IGN. It's over and hour long, seems to be another tech demo but shows off a lot of stuff about the new missions, plus how you can color weapons, new goodies, and now we can give our troops fedoras.

With the right training and the Tactical Rigging Foundry upgrade, you can have a Heavy Trooper with two rockets, one shredder rocket, and four grenades.
If I had a Blaster Launcher and Titan armor he'd be more of a walking death machine than my mechs.

It would have been much better if they've done voice packs with *accented* voices speaking English instead of complete translations, I think.
That said, I'm about to test my Mech.

I'd love some English accents, even if there was only three versions available of them. Generic American English, Generic British English, and Generic Australasian English.
Also, it bugs the hell out of me the best I could do for my Heavy from Brazil is Spanish. And two of my top troops, the best of the best I have, are Japanese and Chinese and the best I could do for them is... English.
I know what you mean about "accented" voices, like Zhang and Annete have, but for a game that is supported for Japanese and Koreans, it bugs me that they go translated subtitles and not a full dub.
I'm more forgiving there's no language options for other nations but that doesn't mean I like it.
Enemy Within highlights so far:
Using my MEC to punch an Exalt guy through a wall and into a car, causing it to explode.
Punching a Mectoid off a roof with my MEC.
Crashing my game by placing proximity mines where I knew some Chryssalids where gonna spawn.
Beating a Covert Op extraction mission by making almost all the Exalt guys suicide. Turns out I didn't need to cause their weapons don't self destruct and you just pick them up afterwards.
Having my Assault with the Bio-electric skin gene mod sneak up on some Exalt troops, then applying Laser Shotgun to their faces.
And something that could have happened in the base game. Having a Berserker jump down from the roof of a ship right in the middle of my troops. Two of which being Assaults with Close Combat Specialist on opposite side of where it landed at and greeting it with laser shotguns to both sides of it.

I know right? That's the one where I crashed my game. Put a mine right next to the whale.
I guess I lucked up on that one. My first Counsel mission was to save Van Doorn, than the Slingshot and Progeny side missions kicked in so by the time I got to Site Recon I was rocking high level troops and MECs.

I had one MEC, which was healing at that time. The squad had no advanced weapons except for the laser pistols and one rifle.
That mission was hard.
Also, I'm going to to turn Damage Roulette the fuck off. When a chryssalid is shot twice at point blank range with a shotgun and loses only 4 hp, it's just not funny.
Question: are the slingshot missions supposed to follow one another? I got the first one and completed it, and the next was the fishing mission.

The only thing I can say for certain is that timeline wise from what I've seen and heard so far is that the first mission for Progeny happens before Slingshot, then all of Slingshot happens, and Progeny finishes up.
Like I said, I must have lucked up. It makes sense for some time to past between Friends in Low Places and Confounding Light, but all three Slingshot missions was back to back for me. That said I'm pretty sure the second and third Slingshot missions are suppose to be back to back.
That could change my next play through.

Apparently, Progeny is linked to the alien base assault & XCOM base invasion.
That kind of sucks, as I've put off the assault for quite a while. As in, I've already researched about everything including the fusion weapons, and have a full squad in power armor.
