My brain trolled me today.
Usually it wakes me up before my alarm, even if only by a minute, because I hate waking up to the alarm.
It knows this and it, like I say, will often wake me up prior - even speaking to me directly if need be.

It's shit like this that makes me facepalm. On the one hand, you have people who run that tumblr who honestly haven't got a clue that other people have feelings ("Why can't you accept my friendship? You must only have been manipulating me for sex!" Because it actually hurts to have your feelings thrown back in your face, and anyone with a lick of sense will avoid that pain until the wound closes, not start hanging out with it); on the other, you have the idiots who think that making an interpersonal connection is at all related to attraction for most people ("But we get along so well! What a shallow jerk!" Too bad; it sucks to get rejected, but if the chemistry's not there, it's not going to magically develop. People choose partners based on appearance, not on getting along well.). It's a clusterfuck of foolish assumptions on both sides, seems to me. I could be wrong, but that's how both come off.

And then, of course, they get on tumblr and start up their angry little tumblecults...

Passion may be sporadic, but love and deep desire take time, familiarity and a fair amount of work.
Chemistry, quite frankly, CAN develop.
I haven't checked that site yet, and I get the feeling it's full of creeps just after sex or something based on your post, but yeah...

True, true, and true, but this is specifically about dating, and I assume the younger dating scene to boot. People generally do not think to themselves, "Gosh, that person's very friendly. I think I'll date them." Or, well, they may think it, but what's actually going on beneath that tends to be a bit different - they don't think it unless they're attracted already.

The site's sort of the opposite, actually - it's an anti-creeps-just-after-sex site, or at least that's what it thinks it is. Basically, it's against the phenomenon of complaining about being "friendzoned" - asking someone out, and being told "hey let's just be friends," and then complaining on the internet about it, either because feelings were hurt or because, according to the site, the rejected person was actually just gaming the rejector to get sex, and was annoyed that their work went for nothing. God knows the latter DOES probably happens, somewhere. Anyway, the site compiles posts about it from tumblr - things like, "Oh, I guess being friends isn't good enough for you, huh?" and other smirking asides. And then they have their own little memes about fedoras, because... /shrug. My cynical side says it's an excuse to hate something and feel self-righteous while doing so, without actually having to work or think much. Yay, social media! They don't do any harm, though, and honestly, even if they're wrongheaded, some of the stuff they're injecting into the discourse is pretty good to have out there.

And, in fairness to them, OKCupid profiles are hilarious. One of my friends went shopping there a few months back, and oh my goodness... Just, wow.

As for not being unique, I'd say that as long as you're unique to yourself, your family, and your friends, being universally unique isn't quite as important.
